Biography* | | The name is recorded as "Webb, Lugenia" in The Church Register of the Wesley Chapel Methodist Episcopal Church, South Colquitt County, Georgia by Lee Collins Hale, Nov 1978. She was received by certificate by J. W. Wells 24 Aug 1884. But she was listed as Ugenia and Eugenia in 1900 and 1910 census records. The 1910 census listed her as having had six children, four of whom were still living. But it also indicated that this was her second marriage. It is not clear whether Webb was her maiden or married name. Since she was not listed as Mrs. Webb in church records, possibly Webb was her maiden name. Three children were listed in the 1900 census in the Oscar Cooper household who were born before Oscar and his wife were married: Kinkeus born Oct 86 Gordon born Nov 89 Thurman born Aug 87 Presumably these three children were from Eugenia's first marriage. Only five of Eugenia's six children have been accounted for. And it is not known which of the three children by her first marriage might have died. |
