Funeral services will be conducted Monday afternoon April 12, at 2P.M. in the First Baptist Church of Barnesville with Rev. Garth Forster officiating. Interment will follow win Greenwood Cemetery. -Mr. Elliott was born in Pike County but had lived in Lamar County most of his life. He was the son of the late Mr. Zack Trumie Elliott and the late Mrs. Mattie Nall Elliott and was retired as Manager of the Knitting Department of the Wm. Carter Company with 44 years service. Mr. Elliott was a Veteran and a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Barnesville having served in many capacities including being a Sunday School teacher for many years and a Deacon. -Survivors include wife, Mrs. Martha Parrish Elliott of Barnesville; sons, Mr. Trumie Culpepper Elliott, Jr. "Pepper" of Kentucky, Mr. Henry Elliott of Kennesaw, GA; three grandchildren. -Friends may visit with the family Sunday evening April 11 from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. in Williams Funeral Home. -Those who wish to do so, may make donations to The First Baptist Church of Barnesville Building Fund. -Williams Funeral Home of Barnesville in charge of arrangements. Obituary* | say 30 August 2013 | Mrs. Martha Parrish Elliott, age 93, passed away Thursday, August 29, 2013 in Kennesaw, Georgia. She was born December 4, 1919 in Millen, Georgia, to the late Rev. Henry Parrish and Arvilla Rast Parrish whose family roots were in Quitman and Brooks County, Georgia. A 1942 graduate of Bessie Tift College in Forsyth, she was married on June 21, 1943 to Trumie Culpepper Elliott of Barnesville, Georgia. They were blessed to have celebrated sixty years together before his death in 2004. Their home was a sanctuary of Christian living and gracious Southern hospitality. Martha was an indefatigable teacher. For many years second graders at Gordon Grammar School in Barnesville flourished under her tutelage. She retired as a reading specialist and thereafter coached and tutored many a struggling student and even taught English as a second language as long as she was able. The First Baptist Church of Barnesville was the home of her faith for seventy years. There her talents as a singer, choir member, and pianist as well as teacher and young women's leader were generously offered to God and for the good of her church. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Henry Parker Parrish and a sister, Julia Parrish Simms She is survived by two sons, Rev. Trumie Culpepper Elliott, Jr. of Springfield, Kentucky and Henry Nall Elliott and his wife, Maetha of Kennesaw, Georgia. A grandson, Christopher Elliott and his wife, Amanda and two granddaughters, Melissa Elliott and Amy Elliott also survive. Her children rise up and call her blessed. Funeral Services for Mrs. Martha Parrish Elliott will be conducted on Saturday, August 31, 2013 at 11 O’ Clock at the First Baptist Church of Barnesville with the Rev. Garth Forster officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Williams Funeral Home on Friday evening, August 30, 2013 from 6pm until 8 pm. Memorial donations are suggested for the First Baptist Church of Barnesville, especially toward the music program.2 |
