She and her brother Arthur (Chip) and sister Feliste, grew up in Tifton where she developed a passion for music. She began playing the piano at the age of 8 and attended Elon College in North Carolina where she earned her bachelor’s degree in music education. After graduation, she moved to High Springs, Fla., where she began her career teaching music at Alachua Elementary and Spring Hill Elementary schools to students in kindergarten through fourth grade.

Marion married Arthur Prescott Spencer Jr. on July 30, 1961. She and Arthur spent 50 happy years together in Alachua until his death in 2012. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Marion enjoyed sharing her love of music with both her elementary and Sunday school students. She had taught more than 30 years at Alachua Elementary School, and served many years as the choir director and pianist at the First United Methodist Church of Alachua. Fondly remembered by her Sunday school students for her dedication to the Church music program, Marion also delighted in working with the choir at Spring Hill United Methodist Church. In addition to her love of music, she also enjoyed playing bridge, fishing, traveling and spending time with her family and friends.

Marion is survived by daughter Beverly Evans and son-in-law Mike Evans of DeLand; grandchildren Leyton, Spencer and Erika Evans of DeLand; sister Feliste Ellis of Lancaster, S.C; and sister-in-law Jackie Turk of Athens, Ga. Family in Alachua include brother-in-law Tom Spencer and sisters-in-law Mildred Copeland Cason and Quinnell Swick. In addition to her husband, Marion is preceded in death by her son Arthur Prescott Spencer III (Scott).

Funeral services will be held Monday, April 20, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of Alachua, 14805 N.W. 140th Street with Pastor Lamar Albritton Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Newnansville Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, April 19, 2015 from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m.at WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME WESTAREA, 823 N.W. 143rd Street, Newberry, FL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Alachua.2

Obituary*28 April 2012 Arthur Prescott Spencer, Jr., 87, passed away on April 25 at Florida Hospital in DeLand due to complications from congestive heart failure. He was born on Aug. 24, 1924, in Alachua, Fla., to Arthur Prescott Spencer, Sr., and Pearl Thomas Spencer. After graduating from Alachua High School, Arthur enlisted in the Navy where he served on the U.S.S. Entemedor, a submarine that patrolled the Pacific during WWII. After the war he attended the University of Florida where he received his bachelor's degree in education.

He taught history at numerous schools in Gainesville, including Sidney Lanier, Westwood Middle and Gainesville High. Arthur's teaching career took him back to Alachua, the city he loved his entire life and where he lived on the land that was homesteaded by his family, the Spencers of England. He taught at Santa Fe High School there and then Mebane Middle School working as Assistant Principal until his retirement on Dec. 31, 1981.

Arthur married Marion Turk on July 30, 1961, and they spent 50 happy years together. A devoted husband, father and grandfather, Arthur enjoyed many activities in addition to his passion for history. He was a very skilled horseman, enthusiastic Gator fan and also loved to fish and farm. Arthur was especially proud of his Heart of Florida Farms club calves that produced many grand and reserve champions in the state.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Alachua, the Florida Cattleman's Association, Florida Farm Bureau and Kappa Alpha Fraternity. Arthur is survived by his wife, Marion, of Alachua; daughter Beverly Evans and son-in-law Mike Evans of DeLand; grandchildren Leyton, Spencer and Erika Evans of DeLand; Alachua relatives include: brother Thomas Spencer and sister-in-law Delores Spencer; sister Mildred Copeland Cason and brother-in-law James Cason; and sister Quinnell Swick. He was preceded in death by his son, Arthur Prescott Spencer III (Scott).

Visitation will be on Sunday, April 29, at Evans-Carter Funeral Home, 220 North Main Street in High Springs, Fla., from 4 to 6 p.m. Funeral services will take place Monday, April 30, at the First United Methodist Church of Alachua, 14805 N.W. 140th Street, at 10 a.m. with Pastor Lantar Albritton officiating. Graveside services at Newnansville Cemetery will be held immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Scott Spencer Library Fund at 3003 Enterprise Road, DeBary, Fla., 32713.

Arrangements are under the care of Evans-Carter Funeral Home, High Springs, FL.

Jean will be missed by many as she was always trying to help others less fortunate. Jean is survived by her husband, Garold Buttke; and brother, Robert Culpepper. Jean asked no funeral services be held, and in lieu of flowers, for individuals to donate to their favorite charities and help others in need.3

     He was born to the late Walter Arnold and Virginia Gaynor Hardley in Pontiac, Michigan. Gary cherished his wife, children, and family, and his heavenly Father and His son, Jesus Christ.
     Gary is survived by Wilma Culpepper Hardley, his loving wife of 52 years. Also surviving are his children, Kay Hardley Gibson and her husband, Wade, of Charlotte, North Carolina, William Arnold Hardley and his wife, Angie, of Wellington, Colorado, Brenda Hardley of Charlottesville, Virginia, David Jonathan Hardley and his wife, Susan Mathews, of Ashburn Virginia, and Gary Paul Hardley and his wife, Tracy Schwandt-Hardley, of Charlottesville Virginia. Additionally, he is survived by 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and five surviving brothers.
     He was predeceased by a sister and brother.
     Gary received his high school diploma from Prairie Bible Institute in Three Hills, Alberta, Canada. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois, a M.S.W. from Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida, and an Ed.D. from the University of Virginia.
     He was a valued member of the Charlottesville community who touched many lives. He was a psychotherapist for 35 years and had a private practice, Relationship Enhancement, prior to retirement. He was a former director of Charlottesville Family Service, a former Rotarian and served on the Charlottesville School Board also serving as vice-chairman. Additionally, he was a past president of the Virginia Association of Marriage and Family Counselors. He authored a weekly column in the Daily Progress, as well as a book entitled A Scriptural Guide to a Fulfilling Marriage.
     During his retirement, Gary and his wife enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Canada.
     A private memorial service was held in Tarpon Springs, Florida, with family attending.1

Could these be additional children of Mary? One is for an "Infant son" 28 Jun 1875-29 Jun 1875. The other is for "Ola Eucina Haralson" "Infant daughter" 25 May 1871- 26 Nov 1871.
