Obituary* | 27 April 2000 | Charles H. Culpepper. Memorial services for Charles H. Culpepper, 76, were held in First Baptist Church in Hendersonville, N.C. on April 26, 2000. Mr. Culpepper died Thursday, April 20, 2000. He was born in Hopkins County, on Aug. 17, 1923, moved to Plainview at an early age and graduated from Plainview High School in 1941. He attended Wayland Baptist College and graduated from the Army Air Force Pilot School in Frederick, Okla., in 1944. He flew 35 combat missions as a pilot/commander of B-24 bombers based in Italy and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross among other decorations. During the Korean War, he served as an intelligence specialist in Europe, which led to a permanent position with the CIA. He later was appointed to a senior position in the Department of Housing and Urban Development, where he remained until his retirement in 1975. Survivors include his wife, Lorina Culpepper of Hendersonville, N.C; twin sons, David Culpepper of Fredricksburg, Va., and Barry Culpepper of Alexandria, Va; a brother Joe Culpepper, of Plainview; a sister Josie Daniel of Cleburne; and two grandsons, Charles Culpepper and David Culpepper.1

Biography* | | Obituary: Joe R. Culpepper Funeral services for Joe R. Culpepper, 78, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Seth Ward Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Ritter, pastor, officiating. Private burial will be held later in Plainview Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Bartley Funeral Home. Mr. Culpepper died Monday, Aug. 2, 2004, at his residence. He was born July 30, 1926, in Hopkins County. He served with the U.S. Navy from 1944-1946. He owned and operated Joe's Plumbing for 30 years and was a member of Seth Ward Baptist Church. On Oct. 4, 1955, he married Audine Jarrett. Survivors include his wife; one son, Robert Culpepper of New York, N.Y; a daughter and son-in-law, Sammy and Bettye Voyles of Plainview; a twin sister and brother-in-law, Merle and Josie Daniel of Cleburne; two grandchildren, Beth Voyles of Irving and Sam Voyles of Plainview; and his loving caregivers. Two sons and one brother are deceased. The family suggests memorials to Seth Ward Baptist Church.1 |
