He retired from the U.S. Army with the rank of first sergeant and also served in the U.S. Navy, the U.S. Air Force and the Louisiana National Guard. Visiting at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., on Saturday, June 21, from 11 a.m. until religious service in the chapel at noon, conducted by Brother Gerald Wheeler and Brother Tim Osborne. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park with full military honors. Survived by his wife, Bettie Culpepper; son Leonard O. Culpepper III and spouse Dena and grandchildren Craig, Randy and Laura Culpepper; daughter Patricia Culpepper and spouse Tim Osborne and grandchildren Emily and spouse Cody Gaudet, Erin Osborne and Tobey Osborne; and daughter Kathy Culpepper and spouse Martin L. Anderson and grandson Erick and spouse Nicole Anderson and great-grandchildren Jared, Rian and Aubree Anderson, and grandson Ethan and spouse Danielle Anderson. Also survived by marriage: child Terry Seals and grandchildren Dawn and spouse Hugh Baggett and great-grandchild Ashlyn, and grandchild TJ Hensley and great-grandchildren Tristen and Dacee; child Sherry and spouse Rusty Russell, grandchildren David, William "Billy" and Matthew and great-grandchild Isaiah; brother, Murphy Ray Culpepper and spouse Ruth; and sister, Betty Lynn and spouse Everett Cennell. Preceded in death by his parents, Mary Anna Culpepper and Leonard Owen Culpepper Sr. He was a member of Florida Boulevard Baptist Church, a Mason and a licensed tax preparer.2 |

Survivors include a niece, Ferne Presley of Jonesboro, Ark; a nephew, Sammy Culpepper of Toomsuba; a sister-in-law, Earlyene Culpepper of Jonesboro, Ark; and six great-nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Bob Garrett, John Culpepper, Charles LeFluer, Henry Yeager, Eddie Shirley, John Smith and David Shirley. Visitation will be today from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.4 |
