Belton - Services for Margaret Irene Culpepper Cosper, 89, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Heartfield Funeral Home in Belton with Rev. Scott Matthews officiating.
Burial will be in Wilson Valley Cemetary in Little River.
Mrs. Cosper died Saturday, Feb. 10, in a Temple Nursing home.
She was born in Harlingen to L.A. and Anna Johnson Culpepper. She lived most of her life in Bell County. She was a member of Taylors Valley Baptist Church
She married Leonard Cosper on Jan. 7, 1971 in Waco. He died in 1981.
Survivors are a son, Bill Truelove of Moffat; two daughters, Margaret Smith of Odessa and Loretta Meyer of Carlsbad, NM; two step-daughters, Lyndi Pirtle of Arlington and Betty Cook of Dallas; a sister, Sunshine Lanham of Little River; 12 Grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by 5 brothers; 3 sisters; a daughter, Gerel Hartman; and 2 grandsons.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, LeonardCosper in 1981; her parents, eight brothers and sisters, daughter Gerel Hartman and two grandsons.

| Biography* | | Former Bell commissioner Lanham dies at residence -- Longtime Little River resident and former Bell County Commissioner A. J. Lanham, 90, died Sunday, Nov. 11, at his home. Mr. Lanham was born in Little River to Will D. and Fannie Bell Lanham and lived most of his life in Bell County.
A lifelong Democrat, he served 14 non-consecutive terms as Bell County Commissioner, Precinct 2, beginning in January 1987. He was also a farmer and rancher and owned the Central Texas Pony Sales at the Agriculture Building in Temple for seven years.
Precinct 2 included Little Rivv er Academy, Heidenheimer, Rogers, Holland, Bartlett and the south part of Temple.
During his terms as county commissioner, he was instrumental in securing funds to expand Elm Road and FM 440 in the Killeen area.
Mr. Lanham was a member of the Little River Baptist Church.
He had also been a member of the Temple Chamber of Commerce, the Temple Elks Club, the Optimists Club, the Farm Bureau, the Holland SPJST and the Silver Spur Riding Club in Temple.
He had also worked with 4-H Clubs and had also served as a superintendent of the Bell County Jr. Fair and Livestock Show for 18 years.
Survivors are his wife, Sunshine Culpepper Lanham of Little River; and two sons, Gary D. Lanham and Andrew J. Lanham Jr., both of Little River.

The funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Gober Funeral Home in Arab. Burial will be in Arab Memorial Cemetery. Survivors include two daughters, Rosemary Washam of Arab and Annette Dunn of Birmingham; a son, Jerry Dunn of Arab; a sister, Inez Williams of Guntersville; two brothers, Lester Culpepper of Tennessee and Elton Culpepper of Huntsville; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her son: Jerry Dunn of Arab; two daughters: Rosemary Washam of Arab and Annette Dunn of Birmingham; son-in- law: Wayne Washam of Arab; two daughters-in-law: Marina Dunn and Sally Dunn of Arab; two brothers: Lester Culpepper of Portland, Tenn., and Elton Culpepper of Huntsville; sister: Inez Williams of Guntersville; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. I looked at documents last night and forgot to bring my notes to work. But I did determine that mother (Jessie) was un-named on her original birth certificate. Some time later it was filled in. Then she with Sylvia's help (her daughter) had the spelling of her middle name corrected to Cwilla on her birth certificate. Looks like they also got the date clarified.
I cannot make out the profession of John Redding on her birth certificate. One copy might say moulder- which is what he was. But another copy looks like it starts with a F.
I am pretty sure she died on the 15 of Oct but I forgot the notes.4 |
