Name-AltSpell This surname is sometimes spelled William Colepeper of London.
Birth*say 1600 William was born at England say 1600.
Biography* William Culpeper's ancestry is not known. He might be from some branch of the Bedgebury Colepepers. Col. Thomas Culpeper of the Bedgebury family was buried at St. Margaret's Church, Westminster, London, in 1708. The given names used in the Bedgebury branch of the family are similar to the names used in early Virginia, such as Henry, James, Thomas, William, Elizabeth, Mary, and so forth. However, if this is true, then William's son, Henry Culpeper of London could not be one and the same with Henry Culpeper of Lower Norfolk.1,2
