She is buried at Ramah Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Josie, Alabama. There are no dates on her gravestone. At the age of 18, she married 16 year old James Monroe Culpepper on 3/8/1919. He is also buried at Ramah Cemetery with no dates on his gravestone. He was born 6/23/1901 and died 11/14/1923. The marriage is recorded in Pike County, Book W-231, #11276. She had at least one child, Tomie who was born 12/9/1919; he is a ten year old living with his grandmother and his uncle, Molen Singleton's, family in Pike County on the 1930 census. After James Monroe died in 1923, Pearl married _______________ Williams. On October 9, 1927, she gave birth to a daughter, whom she named Willie Pearl Williams. Anna Pearlie died on the same day her daughter was born, presumably from complications of childbirth."5 |
