     Aurthur Davis Applewhite was my gr-gr-grandfather, and his father was Thomas Barnes Applewhite, born 1799 in Halifax County, North Carolina. Thomas married Nancy Primm Davis (born in Morgan County, Georgia) on 30 Dec 1832 in Morgan County, Georgia. Thomas's parents were Robert Shaw Applewhite Sr. who married Elizabeth Barnes.

     Box Springs, Georgia- Reba LIGON FOWKES, age 90, resident of Box Springs, GA and formerly of Columbus, died on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at Vista Care Hospice, Columbus. Funeral services are scheduled at the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus on Saturday, June 2, 2012, 11 a.m. with Rev. Mark CHANDLER officiating. Interment will follow at Patrick Cemetery, Columbus. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, June 1, 2012 from 6-8 p.m.
     Reba, daughter of the late Clarence and Irene APPLEWHITE CULPEPPER, was born August 4, 1921 in Chattahoochee County, GA. She loved Jesus her Lord and Savior and working in His church as long as she was able.
     She was preceded in death by her husbands, Edwin TAYLOR; W.O. LIGON; and Bill FOWKES; son, Richard LIGON; and two sisters, Julia Mae RUDESEAL and Margaret GRISSOM.
     Reba is survived by three daughters, Pat WHITE of Fort Worth, TX; Sarah WILLIAMS and her husband Virgil of Clarkesville, GA, and Peggy STRAWDER of Box Springs, GA; two nieces, Brenda RUDESEAL of Nashville, GA and Linda JONES of Valdosta, GA; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren; and many other loving family members and friends.
     Flowers are accepted or contributions can be made to Vista Care Hospice, 2425 Williams Rd., Columbus, GA 31909. Condolences may be offered at www.shcolumbus.com.3

Rudeseal, Rome; two sisters, Reba Fowkes, Columbus, and Margaret Skipper, Phenix City, Ala; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. The family is at their respective residences. Acree-Davis Funeral Home, Toccoa, has charge of arrangements.6

Lola F. Culpepper of Stephenville, a retired bakery operator, died Tuesday at a Stephenville nursing home. She was 91. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Lacy Funeral Home in Stephenville. Graveside service will be at 4 p.m. Friday in Resthaven Cemetery in Midland.
     Mrs. Culpepper was born in Arkansas and lived in Midland before moving to Stephenville in 1963. She operated a family bakery before retiring. Mrs. Culpepper was a member of the Assembly of God in Stephenville. She was the widow of Ross Robert Culpepper.
     Survivors: Daughter, Bonnie Goddard of Stephenville; son, B.H. Culpepper of Blue Springs, Mo., brother, John Walters of Alma, Ark; sister, Lillie Goddard of Tyler; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Obituary*11 August 2015 B.H. "Speck" Culpepper, 82, of Blue Springs, passed away August 8, 2015. Memorial service will be 2:30pm Tuesday, August 11, 2015, at First United Methodist Church, 301 SW Woods Chapel Rd, Blue Springs. Visitation will be one hour prior to service, at the church. Officiating the service will be Dr. Sally Haynes. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Crossroads Hospice or to First United Methodist Church. Speck was born July 15, 1933 in El Dorado, Oklahoma to Ross and Lola Culpepper. He spent his young adult life in Texas. On September 3, 1977, he married Susan Conrad in Grandview, MO. Speck first worked after high school in the oil fields as a derrick man. After several years he went into sales, eventually retiring from American Tobacco. He was a member at First United Methodist Church. He was also an avid golfer, spending many days a week playing and working and Country Creek Golf Course after retirement. B.H. had five children. He is survived by his wife, Susan; children: Michael (Robyn) Culpepper, Gloria (Tom) LeBleu, Sandra Culpepper, and Matthew (Megen) Culpepper, son-in-law Phillip Coleman; sister, Bonnie Goddard; grandchildren: Ashley (Steven), Dustin (Eva), Chad, Casey, Tifni (Joe), Kilea, Connor, Michael, Pheldon, Stephanie, Aiden, and Owen; and seven great grandchildren with one on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter Jennifer Coleman.3
