After his discharge from the military, he met and married Patricia Dale Love, and they made their home in West Monroe. Mr. Culpepper was a Mason and a member of the Barak Shrine Temple. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Dallas and Estelle Culpepper, his twin brother, Bobby Culpepper and his wonderful grandson, Jacob Terrell Culpepper. He is survived by wife of 54 years, Patricia Culpepper, West Monroe; sons, Ron Edwards of Houston, Texas; Terry Culpepper of West Monroe; Phillip Culpepper (Debbi) of West Monroe; daughters, Brenda Whitfield (Tim) of Minden; Christine Elwess of Denver, Colorado; 11 grandchildren, including a very special granddaughter that he called his number 1 boss, Cricket Culpepper, who he loved with all his heart, who was her best friend; 15 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; Sisters, Elaine Henry (A.C.); Lorraine Ray; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 2, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in West Monroe. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 3, 2011, at Hasley Cemetery, West Monroe, Louisiana. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons and great grandsons. At this time, the family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff of The Oaks for the love and care shown to Papa during his illness. He is preceded in death by his parents, Dallas Dewitt Culpepper, Estelle Strahan Culpepper, and by his wife, Joanne Leblanc Culpepper. Mr. Culpepper is survived by his sons; Stephen and David Culpepper; sisters, Loraine Ray and Elaine Henry; his twin brother, Billy T. Culpepper; stepson, Brent Deshotels and wife, Tammy; six grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Biography* | Sidney's parents were probably Edward St. Clair and Alice, but this is speculation and has not been proven. A Sidney Culpepper appears in the SSDI with a SSN issued in NY before 1951 and with a date of death of Oct 1964. He made three trips through Ellis Island as a crew member: a. On 28 Apr 1919, "Sidney Culpeper" (2-p) was age 30, a steward, 5' 8", and 148 lbs; b. On 10 Nov 1919, "Sydney Culpepper" was age 31, a steward, and 5' 6" tall; and c. On 14 Jul 1924, "Sydney Culpepper" was age 36, a Baker, 5' 9", 170 lbs., able to read, and had had 12 years service at sea. |
