Kendall McTyeire
M, (say 1796 - )
Birth* | say 1796 | Kendall was born say 1796. |
Marriage* | 9 May 1844 | He married Rebecca Duckworth at Warren Co., Georgia, on 9 May 1844.1 |
Biography* | | Scott Culpepper wrote on 23 Jul 2012 in regard to Michael Gray's biography of the blues musician, Blind Willie McTell, Hand Me My Travelin' Shoes.
"Apparently Kendall Mctyeire's son, Reddick, in 1860 fathers a son with a 14 year-old slave girl named Essey. The mulatto offspring is named Elbert, and will in time become Willie McTell's grandfather. This takes place in Warren County, Georgia, near Thomson.
The only Culpepper connection appears to be that in 1844 Kendall marries "a widow, a Mrs Rebecca Culpepper" after his first wife, Elizabeth (Reddick's mother) dies. We learn nothing more of Rebecca, other than that the marriage appears to improve the family finances.
I happen to be a blues fan, hence my reading this particular book. But really, this book is a story about the story; lots of local history, genealogical research, etc. Stumbling across the Culpepper reference was a surprise and a bonus, and that the author utilized your website, and credited you, speaks to the level of research, conducted even on so minor a character as Rebecca."2 |
