Birth*1763 He was born in 1763 at Norfolk Co., Virginia. In 1810 census, he appears to be the male, age 26-45 (thus born between 1765 and 1784). However, a James Culpepper first appears as a male over 21 in the 1784 property tax roll. That means a birth year in or before 1763. 
1810 Census*6 August 1810 James was listed as the head of a family on the 1810 Census at Saint Bride's Parish, Norfolk Co., Virginia. Enumerated in census but otherwise not identified are 3 M0-10, 1 M16-26, 2 F0-10..1 
(Witness) Will14 October 1817 He witnessed the signing of a will of Thomas Edward Culpepper of Norfolk Co., VA on 14 October 1817 at Norfolk Co., Virginia.2 
Research note*12 September 2004 James was a witness to the will of the Thomas Culpepper who died in 1818 in Norfolk Co. VA. Not found in Norfolk Personal Property Tax Records during 1801-1825.
