For many years Mrs. Porter served the children of Heard and Troup County as an elementary school teacher. She will long be remembered for her great love and devotion to educating children. Until the onset of her long illness, Mrs. Porter was a faithful member of the Salem United Methodist Church. A funeral will be Friday, Jan. 25 at 11 a.m. at Tom Stutts and Son Funeral Home in Franklin, Ga. The Rev. Dr. Don Jolly and the Rev. Tom Lipham will officiate. Burial will be in the Shadowlawn Cemetery in LaGrange, Ga. Obituary* | 2 September 2010 | Annie Ruth Culpepper, 89, of Ephesus died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010. Mrs. Culpepper was born on Nov. 29, 2010 (sic), in Heard County to the late Ike and Stella Jackson Bell. She was a homemaker and a member of Sardis Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Culpepper; her brothers, Clifford and Guy Bell; and her sisters, Clyde Bell Franklin and Emmie Lou Porter. Survivors include her sisters-in-law, Jewel Culpepper and Jo Culpepper, and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 3, at 2 p.m. at Sardis Baptist Church. Rev. Darnell Teal and Rev. Steve Dempsey will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Prior to the services, her body will be placed in the church from 1:30 p.m. until the funeral hour. Obituary* | 26 April 2016 | Jesse L. Culpepper, 87, left his earthly family to join his heavenly family on April 23, 2016, after facing cancer during the last days of his life. He was a Korean War veteran, an Alabama Power Co. retiree, and a faithful member of his church. He is preceded in death by his father, James Lawrence Culpepper; his mother Bessie Williams Culpepper; and nine of his eleven brothers and sisters.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of sixty five years, Mildred Brown Culpepper; his children, Charlene Brown (Kenny), Jerry Culpepper (Angela), and Susan Edwards (Tony); eight grandchildren, Kevin Brown, Keith Brown (Kristin), Jessica Rumyantsev (Sergey), Jennifer Hensley (Jeff), Jerika Lamb, Clay Edwards (Lindsay), Neil Edwards (Audrey), Amy Dandridge (Blake); and eight great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 from 5:00-7:00PM at Leak Memory Chapel. A celebration of life service will be held on Wednesday, April 27, 2015 at 11:00AM at Leak Memory Chapel with burial following in Greenwood Cemetery. Shawn Merithew and Rodney Culpepper will be officiating.5 |
