Obituary* | 4 May 2011 | Ann Culpepper, Norfolk, VA My loving mother, Ann(a) Culpepper, 79, of the 3900 block of Llewellyn Ave., passed away April 29, 2011. She is preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, John F. Culpepper Sr. and a son, Andrew Thomas Culpepper. Mom was born in 1931 in Elizabeth, N.J., to the late Alex and Margaret Nester(owicz). Left to cherish her memory is her son, John F. "Buddy" Culpepper Jr. and fiance Carol Walker; a sister-in-law, Iris Morton and nephews Manly Jr. and David and their families of North Carolina and the Setzer family. Mom loved duckpin bowling, working and being a youth bowling coach at Fair Lanes Military for more than 20 years. My mom overcame many obstacles that life threw her way but it never dampened her spirit. She was loving, funny, feisty, strong, and a fighter to the end. Mom, I know God has better plans for you, he has sent you home to be with Dad and Andy; maybe even teaching little angels how to bowl strikes. When I hear it thunder, I will be smiling because I know it's you rolling thunderous strikes! Thank you, mom for raising me to who I have become today. You will forever be in my heart and I will always Love You! - Buddy A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel. There will be a viewing and family will receive friends at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Services will be conducted by Pastor Michael C. Smith.
