Gig Harbor, Wash. — Lucille (Harris) Stephens, born 3/8/1927, passed into the gates of Heaven and into the arms of the Lord on 9/27/2006. Lucy was born in Almond, Alabama to Benjamin and Lilly Harris. She met and married Steve, the love of her life, on April 18, 1953, in Georgia. They began a journey traveling the world with the military while raising four children. They settled in Gig Harbor, in 1968, and fell in love with the Northwest. Lucy's joys in life were her family. She was a devoted wife and mother. She especially enjoyed being a grandma to her seven grandchildren. She maintained a strong faith in God and a sense of southern hospitality throughout her life. Lucy was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Steve, her parents, her sisters LaVerne and Louise, and her brother, Ben. She is survived by her children, David (Cherie), Lynn (Mark), Janet, and Kathy (Vince). Also surviving are her grandchildren, Marci, Staci, Matthew, Meagan, John, Mindy, and Carly; her brother Herb (Pat) Harris; and many nieces and nephews. Interment, Haven of Rest Memorial Park, Gig Harbor, Wash. Remembrances may be made in her name to National Stroke Association at stroke.org.
