As you know, Elijah Clark Culpepper's mother, Elizabeth Channel, married Neil Culpepper 12 Jan 1840 in Muscogee Co. AG. After he died, she married Francis Osborn 2 Feb 1851 in Stewart Co GA. After he died, Elizabeth married James Wilkey 29 Dec 1857 in Barbour Co AL.I descend fromSarah Wilkey born 1820 (James' sister) who married John Carson. They were neighbors in Barbour 1860.

In 1860 Barbour AL, Elijah Culpepperwas age 18 and living with his uncle James Channel (Elizabeth's brother)and family and his aunt Rebecca Channel Upton (Elizabeth's widowed sister, widow of William Upton). Also in the household is Sinthia Kirksey Channel age 70 (widow and second wife of Henry Channel). Rebecca Channel Upton's daughter Sarah A. M. Upton had married Zachariah Wilkey, brother of James and Sarah.They were also in 1860 Barbour.In 1860 Barbour isan olderE.C. Culpepper age 47 who has a son Elijah age 14. I'm assuming this older E.C. was Elijah Clark also, possibly Neil's brother.

Elijah Clark Culpepper (Neil's son) was in Bell Co TX 1853-1854(tax rolls) in the area that became Coryell Co.

My Samuel Carson born 1804 (father of John Carson who married Sarah Wilkey) was also there 1853-1854 (Milam then Bell Co)as were 4 of his married daughters and a middle son, including daughter Sarah Carson who married Thomas Wiley Wilkey (another sibling). The moved direct from NC.

In 1874, James Wilkey and Sarah Wilkey Carson (now a widow) moved to Coryell Co TX after their father David Wilkey died in Barbour AL. The other surviving Wilkey siblings also moved to TX (Susannah Wilkey Lynn and husband Moses, Nancy Wilkey Smith, a widow, and the orphan children of Zachariah Wilkey moving there with their uncle James).1

Obituary*18 September 2014 Lawrence Mack Culpepper, 61, beloved husband of Kelly Goodman Culpepper, went to be with the Lord on September 16, 2014.

Born in Greenville, Mack was a son of the late Lester Lee Culpepper and Margie Mathis Pace. Mack was a master welder and a member of New Life Baptist Church.

Surviving are five children, Josh Culpepper (Liz), Shane Culpepper, Cary Benson (Nick), Christina Thompson (Duane), and Shelby Culpepper; four grandchildren, Ariana, Hannah, Alyssa, and "Little" Mack; four sisters and one brother. Predeceased were one brother and one sister.

Services will be held at New Life Baptist Church on Sat., Sep. 20. Visitation will be from 11 - noon, with the service at noon. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Ronald McDonald House. Cremation Society of South Carolina-Westville.1
