Obituary*8 November 2014 Donald Wayne Culpepper, 73, a resident of New Orleans, passed away on Monday, October 24, 2014, from complications of prostate cancer. Son of the late Clyde M. and Mattie Ruth Manning Culpepper, he was born in Meridian, MS, on August 5, 1941. Survivors include his brother, Moody Culpepper (Beth) of Vicksburg, MS; sister Patricia C. Schiffbauer of Lafayette, LA; niece Ann Evans W. Wall (Don), and daughter Campbell of Baton Rouge, LA; niece Paula W. Sansom (Steve) and sons Whit and Alex of Memphis, TN; niece Gay C. Drake (Joe) and daughter Anna of Jackson, MS and nephews Michael Culpepper and Joe McDermott of Seattle, WA. He was predeceased by his parents, his sister Lynnda C. Whittington, and brothers-in-law Alex Whittington and John Schiffbauer. Don grew up in Macon, MS, was graduated from Macon High School, and attended the University of Southern Mississippi, where he became a devoted Golden Eagle football fan. Attending Golden Eagle football games was a life-long pastime for him. He was also a staunch Saints fan. He was phenomenal with sports statistics. Ask him about any college or pro football or basketball game, and he could give you a quick run-down without using a computer. As a realtor in New Orleans he appreciated its historic culture and was excited to learn the background and development of each district. He had a keen eye for art, architecture and decorating. Christmas was his special season; he decorated elaborately and made a full over selecting the just-right gift for family members and friends. Graveside services will be held at the Culpepper plot in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Macon, MS, at a later date. THARP-SONTHEIMER-THARP of Metairie was in charge of arrangements.1

Obituary*28 April 2016 Moody Manning Culpepper passed away on Tuesday, April 26th, at Vicksburg Convalescent Home. He had battled Parkinson's disease for many years. He was 80 years old.

Moody was born in Meridian, MS on November 1, 1935 to Mr. and Mrs. Clyde M. Culpepper. The family moved to Macon, MS where he was graduated from high school.

He served in the United State Navy from 1954 to 1958.

Moody was graduated from Mississippi State University with a degree in civil engineering. He retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers after 30 years. He was a registered professional engineer.

Moody was a longtime resident of Vicksburg. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon and was a member of Faith in Practice Sunday School Class.

He served as president and on the board of directors of the Vicksburg and Warren County Historical Society. He served on the executive board and as president of the local National Association of Active and Retired Federal Employees. He served as Damage Assessment Supervisor for the local Red Cross. He was on the Fisher Ferry Water District Board and served as president. He was a member of the Lions Club.

For many years Moody was a very dedicated scout leader. He was on the Boy Scouts of America Troop Committee of Troop 105 and served as Troop 102 committee chairman. He was a District Commissioner of the Andrew Jackson Council. He also served on the Mississippi Board of Directors of the Girl Scouts of America.

Moody actively supported MSU in many ways. He served on the MSU Alumni Association National Board of Directors. He was on the Warren County Alumni Board of Directors where he served on many committees and as president.

His survivors include his wife of 58 years, Beth Culpepper; his sister, Patricia Schiffbauer; his children, Gay Drake (Joe) and Mike Culpepper (Joe McDermott); and his granddaughter, Anna Drake. He was predeceased by his parents; sister, Lynnda Whittington; and brother, Don Culpepper.

Funeral services will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Vicksburg on Friday, April 29th at 11:00. Visitation will be at the church from 9:00 a.m. until time of the service.2

Mr. Carlisle graduated from Auburn University with a degree in Vocational Agriculture. He worked as a real estate agent for Action Properties. Mr. Carlisle was a US Army veteran of the Korean War. He enjoyed fellowshipping with friends as a member of the Burger King Coffee Club. Mr. Carlisle liked watching western movies, fishing, and was an Auburn football fan.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Ilene Oliver Carlisle of Alexander City; daughter, Lory Avsar of Birmingham; son, Dameon Carlisle (Julie), of Alexander City; grandchildren, Lara Avsar and Caly Carlisle.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, John Carlisle.

The family will accept flowers or memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, 310 Green Street, Alexander City, AL, or the Children's Harbor One Our Children's Highway, Alexander City, AL 35010.1
