Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late Luther Lewis and Viola Ward Culpepper. Smiley was a member of Victory Chapel Baptist Church where he was an usher and a member of the T.W. Julian Sunday School Class. He retired from Jones Construction after 12 years. Surviving, in addition to his loving wife of 60 years, are two daughters, Rita Clardy and Cindy Smith, both of Easley; three sons, Dean Culpepper of Easley, Billy Culpepper of Greenville, and Mike Culpepper of Greer; 12 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren. The visitation will be held Monday, October 26, 2015 from 12:00 p.m. until 1:15 p.m. at Victory Chapel Baptist Church, with the funeral service following at 1:30 p.m. Entombment will be in Graceland Cemetery, West Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Victory Chapel Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 251, Conestee, SC 29636. The family will be at the home of Rita Clardy.1 |
