Bordering south Alabama in the Panhandle Region of Florida, Jackson County was formed in 1822 from Escambia County. Its county seat, Marianna, is on I-10 about 60 miles west of Tallahassee and 35 miles south of Dothan, AL. Jackson is bordered by the Florida counties of Gadsden, Calhoun, Washington and Holmes, and the Alabama county of Houston (which was part of Henry County until 1903).
