  • (Deceased) Death*: 26 December 2007; Odessa, Ector Co., TX; Alice D. Caswell was born April 29, 1905 in Hill County, Texas, she moved to Norton, Texas at a young age. She married Grady B. Caswell in 1922; they lived in Norton, TX, later moving to Lovington, N.M., and then back to Texas in 1945. They moved to their last home together in San Angelo, Texas in 1948. Alice moved to Odessa, Texas in 1994 and lived with her daughter, Kay until her death.

    Preceding her in death was her husband of 64 years, Grady B. Caswell, infant daughter, Peggy and daughter, Marilyn Elveeta Stanley, also six sisters and four brothers.
    She is survived by daughters, Kay Wood of Odessa, Joyce Mikula of Long Beach, CA, Maezell Squire of Gridley, CA, one granddaughter, and thirteen grandsons, many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, she is also survived by a sister, Eunice Wilson of San Angelo and many nieces and nephews.

    Alice was a great crafter, sewing and crocheting were her specialties. Her afghans are in homes all across America, owned by family and strangers, many were raffled off as ways and means projects for disabled veterans auxiliary in Tampa, Florida, Children's Hospital in Long Beach, CA., and American legion auxiliary in Odessa. She also crocheted house shoes and skull caps for disabled veterans in Florida and Texas. Alice did not believe in idle hands. She was always busy making something for her family and others. She was a great cook and she loved to read and watch her soaps.

    Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 31, 2007, at the Norton Cemetery in Norton, Texas.

    In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Hospice House 903 N. Sam Houston, Odessa, TX. 79761.
