Not all Hahns are of Johannes' line...

Perhaps you're wondering what Henry Hahn of Cabarrus County is doing in the Johannes Hahn history? In my research, I found some notes by George Franklin Hahn referring to a visit by Johannes and Jacob Hahn. This made me believe Henry was part of the Johannes family. Sharon Payne Purdue was kind enough to provide information.

The family records of Henry Hahn are in Rowan and Cabarrus County, N.C. A note in the records indicates that Henry came to that area with Johannes Hahn, whose family history begins at The Johannes Hahn Family History. A direct connection between the two families has not been found, however. Anyone who can make the link is invited to write to Linda Setzer, address at the bottom of the page.

Henry Hahn bought land from Henry Smith in Dec. 1788.

From The Moravian Record, Vol. 1 Page 308: "Jacob Hahn - A German arrived with his family for the night. They left Saconna, Pa. near Bethlehem in March 1766, arrived in Moravian settlement Apr. 24, 1766."

Johannes Hahn (12 June 1712-21 Apr. 1793) and Jacob Hahn landed in 1751. Johannes located near Hickory, N.C. (Perhaps Johannes and Jacob were brothers and Henry is son of Jacob? This needs to be clarified.)

Henry Hahn and wife, Christine. Their son, Henry, was born 17 Jan. 1798. He was baptised 8 Apr. 1798. This son is not listed on records.

Sponsors were Wiliam Heynesman and Mary Ann Blackwelder. The records indicate they took Holy Communion in the Buffalo Creek Church 28 May 1798. (No indication of state or city. This family, however, has records in Rowan and Cabarrus County, N.C.)

Hahn descendants met at 3:00 PM on Sunday, May 6, 1979 in the Bethel (Bear Creek) United Church of Christ to dedicate a monument in memory of Henry Hahn and wife, Christina Simmons Hahn, whose remains were interred there in 1825. This memorial service was a project headed by Lester Moose and is a result of years of research and study.
