Welcome to Lib's Neighborhood where genealogy is the main topic, main concern, and most enjoyable hobby. Genealogy is rather like an Easter Egg Hunt - there are some eggs you can never seem to find, but once in a while you find the golden egg. When you find that hidden family member which links up your family, then the prize is well worth the hunt.
Two of the links I enjoy using are in the Dutch Fork area of South Carolina because that is where most of my family tree put in roots. It is true that quite a few branched out and took root elsewhere for various reasons probably known only to them. The other link I use to assist me in trying to locate my maternal grandmothers people who have been hiding in the mountains for many years now. I wish there were many more sites like the Inman Compendium because I am a firm believer in sharing. Sharing not only makes the genealogy hunt more interesting, it helps each of us to meet our common goal - to find that missing link!
Here are some of my favorite websites:
Dutch Fork (http://dutchforkchapter.homestead.com)
Old Newberry (https://sites.rootsweb.com/~scnewber)
Inman Compendium (http://inman.surnameweb.org)
