Lincoln County, Kansas

The early settlers of Lincoln County were very interested in their spiritual lives,
and churches were among the first institutions to be organized across the county.

The vast majority of pioneers were Protestant or Catholic,
although there were a few Jewish settlers as well, most notably the Shire brothers,
who operated a mercantile in Lincoln for many years.
