This page is dedicated to Moica Langstraat, the daughter of Hollanders Mayke Laanen Van Pelt and Stoffel Dirckson. Moica is the ancestress of all those who descend from John Little*2, the second son of Maj. John Little,, Esq., who migrated to Shrewsbury Township, New Jersey before 1724 - the year he was first appointed to the Monmouth County court.

Van Pelt was one of six early seventeenth century Dutch families that settled on Langh Eylant (Long Island, New York) to whom Little descendants are related. There were two sons Matthys, whose grand-daughter married John Little^2, and Teunis Laanen Van Pelt, of whom we know very little.
The Longstreet name, originally Langstraat, was adopted by Dirck Stoffelse when surnames were first required in Colonial America. The name eventually evolved to Longstreet and has been spelled this way for over three hundred years. Stoffle Dirckson, the oldest son signed his Will Theophilus Langstraat. His younger, and only brother, Adrien. followed by signing his Will Aaron Langstraat. The name Langstraat was last found in church records circa 1760. From that time until now Longstreet has been the accepted spelling.
The Littles were Freeholders and Judges who sat on New Jersey Courts for nearly one hundred years. Moica's husband and her three sons, as well as her son-in-laws, defended Monmouth County during the Revolutionary War. By the turn of the century John^1 and his two wives, John^2 and his two wives, John^3 and two sisters were buried. Theophilus Little^1, his wife and sons migrated to Pennsylvania and began to improve upon his land purchase. It is from here son Thomas Little^3, and his nephew Benjamin, migrated to Ohio with their families. The sixth generation being the grandson of Thomas, and the sons of Benjamin were the pioneer who migrated from Ohio to settle in Illinois, and Kansas, and in Oklahoma where the adventure continued. .
There are at least five instances within these first seven generations where two or more individuals in a single family marry into the same Little generation. It's nice to know and understand who is related to whom, but, please be aware that it is rare when Certified Genealogists look to spouses of collateral lines or Gedcoms as a legitimate resource.
