Thomas B Jones Reunion - Carroll Free Press Newspaper - September 3, 1925

Scanned Copy of Original The decendants of Elder Thomas B Jones met at W.O. Jones Aug 30, and held a family reunion in honor of Elder Thomas B Jones and Celia S Jones.

There were about two hundred and fifty of the decendents present, who enjoyed a most pleasant day.

After the merry "Howdy Do's" were said, Rev G.W. Jones called the relatives to order and delivered an interesting sermon, after which we retired to the shade of the magnificent pecan tree where the loving hands spread one of the finest basket dinners we ever saw consisting of all the good things that it takes to compose a real old time dinner. There was plenty and some to spare.

Thre were several friends present who had been invited and we appreciated their presence very much.

After dinner we went to the family cemetery and reverenced the burial place of our dear ancestors. Then we went to the old home place (Possible Jones Homeplace) and viewed the old log house that shielded the loving old couple and the nine honorable boys from rain and snow, from 1849 to the death of grandfather which occurred in 1880. We drew up some water and drank it from the same old well that used to quench the thirst of this most adorable pair. Then we gathered back at W.O. Jones house and held a business meeting and appointed the following grandsons together with one great grandson as arranging committee. Namely: H.C. Jones, chairman, J.T. Jones, Secretary, R.E.L. Jones, W.O. Jones, W.S. Jones, J.F. Jones,Sr., and F.M. Richards.

We agreed on holding our next reunion at Antioch Primitive Baptist Church, where grandfather use to serve as pastor. This church is about one-half mile north of Banning, Ga., and only about one-fourth mile off of the Carrolton and Newnan highway. The time for the next reunion will be Wednesday after the 2nd Sunday in August, 1926. We will have a basket dinner next year as this year. We wish to say that all of the relatives who were not present at this last reunion are expected at the next one, next year. And also the friends of this Jones family have a hearty welcome. So be sure to ask your cousins and friends, if they have not heard it; tell them and let's congregate one of the largest famililes together that has ever been seen in dear old Carroll.

Remember the place - Antioch Primitive Baptist Church; remember the date, Wednesday, after the second Sunday, August, 1926.
