CORMIER, Eva M. - 85, 334 Stellarton Road, New Glasgow, died July 24, 1996, in
Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Sackville, N.B., she was a daughter of
the late Alexander and Dalphine (Petitpas) Landry. She was a resident of New
Glasgow for the past 14 years, prior to which she had lived in Middle Sackville,
N.B. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church. She was a
former employee of the Drew Nursing Home, Sackville, N.B. Surviving are son,
Levi, New Glasgow; daughters, Rosalie Briggs, Blue Acres; Dorine Cameron,
Wallacetown, Ont.; seven grandchildren;
four great-grandchildren; brothers, Clovis, Sackville, N.B.; George, Ottawa;
sisters, Alveta Landry, Quebec; Lena Babineau, Parrsboro; Mary Landry, Amherst.

Richmond Villa, St. Peter's. Born in Sampsonville, she was a daughter of the
late Vincent and Elizabeth (Landry) Sampson. Surviving are daughters, Veronica
(Mrs. D.Y. Sampson), Theresa (Mrs. Adrian Burke), Clare (Mrs. Paul Burke),

CORMIER, LAURA LEE
CORMIER, Laura Lee - 88, Pictou, died November 12, 1997, in Aberdeen Hospital,
New Glasgow. Born in Pictou, she was the daughter of the late James Lee and Mary
Jane (Landry) MacNeill. She was a lifelong member of Stella Maris Parish,
Pictou. She worked at the Pictou Advocate and served on the executives of the
Shire Figure Skating Club and auxiliary of the Pictou Fire Department.
Throughout her lifetime, she excelled in needle arts, especially knitting and
embroidery. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is
survived by daughter, Margo (Mrs. Joseph Hawes), Pictou, and granddaughters,
Sandi-Lee and Christine. She was predeceased by her husband, A.J. (Paddy)
Cormier. Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou.
Funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Stella Maris Roman
Catholic Church, Pictou. Burial will be in the Sea View Cemetery. Family flowers
only please. Donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.

The death occurred early this morning at his residence, 317 Esplanade of Benjamin Coiffie, a resident of this city for the past 35 years. He was born in St. Pierre, Miquelon, fished out of Gloucester, Mass. for years and came to Sydney (Nova Scotia) where he took up permanent residence. His wife predeceased him several years ago and he is survived by six sons: Benny, Joe and George in Ontario; Dan in Montreal, Richard and Alex at home; three daughters; Mrs. Charles Warner (Mary) in Sydney; Mrs. Lloyd Staples (Theresa) in B.C.; Mrs. Leonard Wyatt (Elizabeth), in Los Angeles. Four brothers, Paul in Sydney, Peter in d"Escousse; Amos in Boston; Joe in France. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.

Leo A. Coffie, 52, of 195 Charlotte Street died early yesterday morning in City of Sydney Hospital after a long illness. A son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Peter Coffie, he was born in Sydney. He was a veteran of the Second World War, having served overseas with the Cape Highlanders for four years. Mr. Coffie is survived by three brothers Gus, Sydney; Bill and Peter, Quebec and two sisters, (Mabel) Mrs. Howard Redmond, and Mrs. Lillian MacLellan, with whom he resided, both in Sydney. His body rests at T.W. Curry's Downtown Chapel, 390 George Street. Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday in Sacred Heart Church and interment will take place in Resurrection Cemetary.

He is survived by his wife, Angela, two sons, two daughters and four grandchildren, all in Aylmer; two sisters: Mabel (Mrs. Howard Redmond) and Lillian MacLellan, both of Sydney. He was predeceased by three brothers: Gus, Leo and Wilfred. Cremation took place.

ST. PETER'S - Mrs. Charles I. Cameron, 94, of St. Peter's,
died Wednesday in Richmond Villa.Born in L'Ardoise, she was the former
Mary Ellen Samson, a daughter of the late Urbain and Maria (MacNeil)
Samson. Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Blance M. Martell, L'Ardoise;
and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband.
The body is at home in St. Peter's. Funeral will be tomorrow at 2 p.m.
in St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church. Rev. Joseph Lynch officiating.

St. Rita Hospital, Sydney. Born in Irish Cove, she was a daughter
of Joseph and Theresa (MacLellan) Cash. She was an employee of Dalhousie
University and had worked with H.R. Doane
in Halifax, Ontario Hydro and the University of Toronto. She
was a member of Sacred Heart Parish, Johnstown. Surviving are a brother,

Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Nelson and Rosina (Proctor) Cogswell. He was employed with Stora Forest Industries and was a member of the Canadian Paper Makers Union, Local 972. M. Thelma Campbell, 64, Sydney, died November 3, 1995, at home in Sydney. Born in Whiteside, Richmond Co., she was a daughter of the late Duncan A. and Mary Margaret (Cameron) White. Trained as a nurse, she graduated from St. Martha’s Hospital in 1953. She worked at St. Rita’s Hospital, as well as hospitals in the Boston area prior to being married. She was very involved in St. Joseph’s Church Parish activities where she was president of the Catholic Women’s League and a eucharistic minister. Volunteer work was a part of her life in many facets including Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society, and Cape Breton Right to Life. Surviving are her husband, John Colin; daughters, Clare (Mrs. Gordon H. CARTER, Grace Elizabeth Melvina - Sampsonville, died August 16, 1999,
in Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Our mother joined her loved ones
in Heaven. We were blessed to have such a wonderful mother, friend and sister
for 68 years. She surrounded us with an atmosphere of love and caring.
Born in Sampsonville, she was a daughter of the late Peter and Margaret
(Sampson) Sampson. She was a member of St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church.
She was a member of Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Branch 47.
She was a volunteer at Richmond Villa and was involved in teaching children
as a catechist. She volunteered and dedicated her time to many community

CHISHOLM, Mildred Violet - 95, Richmond Villa, St. Peter's, formerly of
Grand Greve passed away very peacefully Saturday, March 4, 2000. At
the time of her death, she was a patient in the Strait Richmond Hospital,
lovingly attended by her two daughters, Theresa Krumrie, Amherst and
Margaret (Jackie) Morrison, Point Edward. She is survived by sister,
Hittie MacNeil, St. Peter's; brother, James Bouchard, Port Hawkesbury.
Violet had five grandchildren, Thomas, Montreal, Que.; Violet, Hampton,
N.B.; Chuck, Saint John, N.B.; Heather, Parrsboro; Stephen, Amherst. She
was a great-grandmother of six. She was predeceased by son, Clifford Bouchard,
in 1957, and husband, James W. Chisholm, in 1981. Visitation

CAMPBELL, Felix Bernard - 92, died July 4, 2000, in Strait Richmond Hospital,
after a brief illness. Born in L'Ardoise, he was a son of the
late Martin and Justina (Boucher) Campbell. He worked for many years
in the Halifax area and retired after 33 years service with Nova Scotia
Light and Power in 1972. On retiring he moved back to the family home in
L'Ardoise with his first wife Mary (James) who predeceased him. He was also
predeceased by his second wife Agnes (Mombourquette) Deveau; an infant
son of his first marriage, Joseph; sisters, Cecelia, Bertha, Minnie and
Dora; brothers, Lawrence, Henry, Cornelius, Leonard and James. Surviving
to miss him are sister, Theresa Myatt, Florida; daughter,
Ruth, Sackville; sons, John and Joseph, both of Ontario; many grandchildren,
great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Visitation 2-4, 7- 9 p.m.

COOK, Harry William - 78, River Bourgeois, formerly of Lequille, Annapolis
Co., passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2000, at home. Born June 3,
1922, in West Brook, U.S.A., he was a son of the late Austin and Dorothy
(Spears) Cook. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Parish, River
Bourgeois, a veteran of the Second World War, and also a 50 year and
life member of Royal Canadian Legion, Somme Branch 31, Dartmouth, having
served as president, vice- president, and house chairman. He also received
the Meritorious Service Award. He was a heavy equipment operator at CFB
Shearwater, a member of the 50 Plus Club and Union president, HMS Shearwater.
Surviving are his wife, the former Madeline (Sampson) Beranger; step- daughters,
Beverly (Al) Carmichael, Dartmouth; Ursula (Ian) Campbell, Halifax; Carol
(Ren) Beaver, Sherbrooke, Guysborough Co.; son, Kenneth (Gloria) Cook, Dartmouth;

11, 2002, in Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston. Born in Hull, England,
January 27, 1927, she was a daughter of the late George and Alice (Rowland)
Cook. Betty was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Those that knew
her will remember her kind spirit and cheerful attitude. She is survived
by her husband of 50
years, William "Bill" Cape; daughter, Joyce (Blaire) Forgeron;
son, Richard (Rhonda); grandson, Kyle; granddaughter, Kayla, all of

COX, George Foster - 80, 105 Smith Ave., Truro, passed away
March 3, 2002, in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born in Port
Royal, Richmond Co., he was the son of the late Wilfred and Marie (Theriault)
Cox. Foster was president of Fosco Contracting Services Ltd. for 35 years.
He was past president of the Truro Golf Club, Truro Curling Club and
Nova Scotia Roofers Association. He was a veteran of the Second World
War and a member of Royal Canadian Legion, Colchester, Branch 26. In later
years, his passion was baseball. He is survived by his wife, the former
Colleen Marie Coyle; daughter, Trudy, Truro; sons, Peter (Gail), Vancouver;
Michael and friend Carolyn, North River; Paul and friend Denise, Truro;

(Adriana), Toronto; granddaughter, Emily, Greenfield; grandson,

CAMPBELL, Charles Joseph - 72, L'Ardoise, passed away September
14, 2002, in Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston. Born in Halifax, he
was a son of the late Walter Arthur Campbell and Marie Elizabeth Mombourquette,
and stepfather Francis Mombourquette. He served in the Merchant Navy,
then in Customs for 37 years until he retired in July 1982. He was a member
of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 110 and L'Ardoise Men's Club. He was one
of the founding members and first fire chief of L'Ardoise Volunteer Fire
Department. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Helen (Barrett); sons,
Francis and Charlie in infancy. Surviving are son, George (Marlane); grandson,
Joshua, Halifax; brother, Harry (Nettie), Halifax; sisters, Dorothy Daniels,
Toronto; Madlyn (Clayton) Skerry, Manitoba; stepbrothers, Michael (Barbara),
Walter (Susan); stepsister, Robin (David) Biggs, all of Halifax. Cremation
has taken place. There will be no visitation. Funeral service will be held

took place May 21, 2001, at St Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Petit
de Grat, with Rev. Bruno Ruel officiating. She was the daughter of the
late Henri Albert Boudreau and Josephine Martell, born sept 9,1918, in
Sampson's Cove, and died Mar 30, 2001 in Florida, USA. She was predeceased
by brothers Clifford and Willard, half brother Joseph Etienne, half sister
Marie Elizabeth Landry, her husband Emile Clarke predeceased her june 26,
2000.Surviving are her brother Harry at Samson's Cove, and numerous nieces
and nephews. Burial was in Star of the Sea Cemetery, Petit de Grat.

Born in Johnstown, he was a son of the late Neil and Katie (Campbell) Campbell. Dannie was a carpenter all his life and in his early years worked at the Steel Plant in Sydney,
then he worked around Cape Breton and built many homes and barns. He was a member of Sacred Heart Parish, Johnstown. Dannie was a very sociable man who had a great love for Scottish music, Gaelic singing and fishing from his loved boat in Bras D'Or Lakes. He is survived by his sister, Mary Catherine Gerrior, Johnstown; nieces, Pat (Vince) McNamara, Annie White (Pius), Whiteside; Mary Josephine McNamara (Terry), Evanston; Jean McNamara (Blair), Evanston; nephews, George Gerrior (Mary Anita), Johnstown; Neil Gerrior, Johnstown; 13 grandnieces and nephews; 11 great-grandnieces and nephews; special namesake, Dannie McNamara. LITTLE ANSE - John William Clannon, Little Anse, Richmond County, 79 died
Wednesday in Strait-Richmond Hospital. Born in L'Ardoise, he was a son of the
late Hugh and Alexina (Sampson) Clannon. He was postmaster of Little Anse,
Sampson's Cove, for 27 years, retiring in 1971. He was a member of St. Joseph's
Society, Petit de Gras. He is survived by his wife, the former Mary Evangeline
Samson; a daughter, Geraldine (Mrs. Hubert Martell), Pondville; three sisters,
Anna (Mrs. Narcisse Briand), Montauk, N.Y.; Mary (Mrs. Ambrose Boudreau),

CONRAD, Leo Francis "Sonny" - 63, passed away peacefully March 27,
2006, surrounded by his loving family in QEII Health Sciences
Centre. He was a son of the late Leo and Florence (Bowman) Conrad.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Jeanette (Sampson);
daughter, Ann Marie (Wells); sisters, Grace (Ron Murphy), Eileen
Connors, Joan (Ron Hogan), Maureen (Fred Wile); brothers, Brian and
Mike (Rhonda); many special nieces and nephews. Sonny was a member
of the Plumbers Union Local 56 for 42 years and owner of Leo's
Plumbing and Heating. Together with his wife and son-in-law, John,
he managed the business for 18 years. Sonny will be remembered for
his wonderful smile, his quiet wisdom and the wonderful kindness
that he shared. He was a wonderful husband, great Dad and
father-in-law, and loving grandfather "Puppy". He will be missed by
family and many friends. We would like to thank the staff of 6A, VG
Site, QEII, for the exceptional care they provided. We are truly
grateful. He touched our lives and we are privileged to call him

CLANNON (Samson), M. Evangeline - Of Arichat, formerly of Little
Anse, passed away Sunday, October 8, 2006, at her residence in St.
Ann's Community & Nursing Care Centre, Arichat, at the age of 86,
after an extended illness. Born in Petit de Grat, she was a daughter
of the late Alexander and Mary Alvina (Samson) Samson. She was the
last surviving member of her immediate family. She served as
postmistress in Little Anse for many years prior to her retirement.
She is survived by daughter, Geraldine Martell, Pondville;
granddaughters, Darlene (Tony Morrell), Bristol, Tenn.; Lorelei,
Halifax; and grandson, Joey (Lena Urqhart), Arichat;
great-grandchildren, Luke and Grayson, as well as adopted brother,
Francis Samson, Petit de Grat, and special companion, Francis
Martell. She was predeceased by husband, John; son-in-law, Hubert;

COSMAN, Kenneth Gregory Sr. - River Bourgeois. It is with sadness
that the family of Kenneth Cosman announces his peaceful passing on
December 27, 2007, in Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston. Born in
Mabou on April 19, 1930, he was a son of the late Earl, Anne and
Jessie Cosman. Ken lived in River Bourgeois for the past 49 years.
Kenneth began his career at the Royal Bank in Port Hood and Sydney
Mines, and then went on to become the manager of the Nova Scotia
Liquor Commission in St. Peter's. Ken also had his own insurance
business. After his retirement in 1986, Ken and Mary enjoyed many
years of traveling and camping. Ken was an avid reader and loved
going for walks, fine crafts and Celtic music. He leaves to mourn
his loving wife of 55 years, Mary (Cholock) Cosman; children, Debra
(David) Digout, Kenny (Joanne) Cosman, Maureen (Neil) Burke, all of
River Bourgeois; Brenda (Jeff) Bourque, Mount Uniacke;
