DOLIMONT, Patrick John - 58, Petit de Grat, Richmond County, died December 11, 1994, at home. Born in North Sydney, he was a son of the late Richard and Evelyn (Gaell) Dolimont. He began his sailing career at the age of 14 as a fireman on steam engines throughout the Great Lakes. He switched to fishing vessels that had diesel engines and worked his way up to become chief engineer on Canada's largest deep sea trawlers. He was employed with National Sea until he retired in 1993. He was an associate member of branch 150, Royal Canadian Legion, Arichat. He is survived by daughters, Phyllis (Mrs. Lloyd Gilbert), Lower Sackville; Jessica (Mrs. Lionel Boudreau), Petie de Grat; Sharon (Mrs. Tom Hearn), Evanston; sons, David, Shane, Etobicoke, Ont.; sister, Mrs. Clara Bond, North Sydney; brothers, Richard, Sydney; Leonard, North Sydney; Michael, Oshawa, Ont.; four grandchildren. and loyal and giving mother to her five children. In her later years, she was a loving and caring grandmother to her seven beloved grandchildren. She w as a member of Immaculate Conception Parish, Truro, and active with the Gaelic Club and Nova Scotia Teachers College Alumni. She recently participated in the 50-year reunion of her Class of 47. She is surv ived by her children,

member of the O.L.A. Parish Council. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who enjoyed her music, reading, knitting and socializing. Her remains are resting in I.M.L. DOYLE, Frank B. - Edmonton, Alta., formerly of Arichat, Richmond Co., passed away Thursday, December 15, 2000, in Edmonton, where he had his home. He was 68 years of age. He was a son of the late E.C. Doyle and Evengeline Gagnon Doyle of Arichat. He attended Arichat High School and St. Francis Xavier University and was an employee of Imperial Oil Ltd. for over 40 years. During his retirement he was an avid golfer and enjoyed his winter home in Arizona, USA. He is survived by his wife, Cathy and his married children, Lisa, Janis and Sharon and by his three grandchildren. Surviving also are his bother, Paul (Blanche) Doyle, Arichat and Florida; his sisters, Sister Monica Doyle, Kingston, Jamaica, West Indies and Margaret Scull (Bob), Richmond, Va., USA. The funeral took place in Edmonton on Thursday, December 21, with burial in Edmonton. There will be a mass in the near future in Assumption
Church, Arichat for relatives and friends.

DOYLE SCULL, Margaret - 67, Wicomico Church, Va., U.S.A., formerly of Arichat, died Wednesday, March 6, 2002. She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Robert W. Scull of Wicomico Church; sister, Sister Monica M. Doyle, Kingston, Jamaica; brother, Paul C. Doyle, Arichat; 11 nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, George, Edward, Frank. She graduated with honours from St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, in 1955 with a bachelor's degree in nursing. After teaching in nursing programs across Canada, she entered University of Michigan, receiving a master's degree in nursing in 1967. She taught in nursing programs at Vanderbilt University, University of Kentucky and Rhode Island University, before
moving to Richmond, Va. to enter the Nurse Practitioner Program at VCU Medical College of Virginia in 1975. She was a nurse practitioner in the Department of Cardiology at MCV for 20 years before retiring in 1996. An active cruiser under sail and small boat racer, she was a member of the Great Wicomico Cruising Club and Rappahannock River Yacht Club. A memorial service was held in Wicomico Episcopal Church at 11 a.m. on March 9, followed by a reception in the church hall. Memorial contributions may be made to Department of Cardiology, VCU Medical College of Virginia, Richmond, VA 23261, in care of its chairman, Dr. George Vetrovec.

BRIAN D. DOYLE, 59, died early Wednesday morning at his home following an extended battle with cancer. He was the husband of Rosemary E. (Graham) Doyle. Born in Gloucester on May 21, 1942, he was the son of the late Augustine P.N.and Genevieve A. (Rose) Doyle. He was a graduate of Gloucester High School, class of 1962, and had resided in Gloucester for most of his life. He was also a quartermaster in the U.S. Navy in the early 1960s. Mr. Doyle was employed as a supervisor for the Boston & Maine Railroad for more than 20 years. He was a member of the Republican Lodge, A.F.& A.M. in Greenfield and the Melha Temple Shrine in Springfield. He was an avid model shipbuilder and enjoyed traveling in this R.V. across the
United States and Canada. He took great joy in giving historic trolley tours to the children of Cape Ann . In addition to his wife of 35 years, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Amy E. and Charles O. Elwell of Rockport; two sons and daughters-in-law, Shawn D. and Sukki Doyle of Denver, Colo., and Brenden R. Doyle and Sara O'Connell of Gloucester; six

Baddeck – Bernard Peter Digout, 59, of Baddeck, died Tuesday in Halifax.  Born in River Bourgeois, Antigonish County, he was the son of the late Tom and Marie (Landry) Digout.  He was an employee of Standard Paving, Halifax, for 42 years.  Surviving are his wife, the former Anna Ferguson; four sons, Peter, David, Richard and Dennis, all of Halifax; two sisters, Ethel, St. Peter’s, Guysborough County, and Mary, Green Island, N.Y.; six brothers, Leo, River Bourgeois, Martin, St. Peters, Alex, New York, Charlie, London, Ont., Andrew, Winnipeg, and Vincent, Dartmouth, and five grandchildren.  He was predeceased by several brothers.  The body will be in MacAskil’s Funeral Home, Baddeck, after 2 p.m. today.  Funeral service will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Knox Presbyterian Church, Rev. DOIRON, John "Jack" - 54, Shubenacadie, passed away August 1, 2002, in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born in West Arichat, he was a son of Georgina (Richard) Boucher, Arichat and the late Harry Doiron. He worked with the Canadian Merchant Marine on the Great Lakes for 18 years. Jack was a resident of Shubenacadie for over 10 years, previously of Enfield. He was a member of St. Bridget's Roman Catholic Church, Shubenacadie. He was active in Children's Aid Society as a parent counselor and foster parent. Jack was a real enthusiast of water and boats. He will be sadly missed by his wife,

Charles Arthur DeVaux: veteran, umpire

Charles Arthur DeVaux, 71 of East Hartford, Connecticut died April 17, 2002.
He was the son of the late Charles A. and Sarah (Gallup) DeVaux.  He was the husband of Louise (Winowiecki) DeVaux. Charlie was a veteran of the Korean War Conflict, serving in the US Airforce.  He was the former owner/operator of DeVaux's Shell Station in East Hartford. He had previously retired from the Conn. Dept of Mental Retardation and the US Army Reserves.
He was a member of the American Legion, Post 200, Rocky Hill, CT.  Charlie was very involved in East Hartford youth baseball and was a member of the CT Approved Baseball Umpires for 40 years.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters: Alice Grillo, Beverly Foley and Lorrie Pyka;  three sons  - Charles A. DeVaux III, John Devaux, and James DeVaux; 15 grandchildren and two gr-grandchildren.  He is also survived by three brothers: Harold, Robert, and John; and a sister Patricia. Burial with military honors was in Silver Lane Cemetary, East Hartford, CT

I also want to send an Obit that will be posted in the Halifax Herald on Dec 15, 2003 of my Aunt Ada who had a summer place in Martinique. She had bought Aunt Sadie and Charlie Martell's home and sold it in the last few years.

DeROACHE-PIPHER, Ada Mary -52, Oshawa, Ont. On November 19, 2003, Ada went to be with the Lord, after a courageous battle with cancer. Ada was born February 13,1951, in Arichat, the daughter of Evangeline DeYoung (Landry) and the late Vincent DeRoache. She did volunteer work with the Victorian Order of Nurses and spent 30 years working as a pharmacy assistant. Ada is survived by her husband, Dan; sisters, Mary Stevenson (Roger), Mae Bradley, Frances Taylor (Gerard); brothers, Wallace, Dominique (Donna), Alvin; many nieces, nephews, and sister-in-law, Joan Pipher. She was predeceased by her stepfather, Dominique DeYoung. She is sadly missed by family and friends. We know Ada is now safe in the arms of God, where we will all meet her some day. DAVID, Joseph Bernard - Died March 18, 2004, in St. Anne's Community Centre, Arichat. Born in Petit de Grat, he was the son of the late Joseph and Maria (Boudreau) David. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. DOYLE, Sister Jean - 85, formerly Sister Mary Jude, a Sister of St. Martha of Antigonish, died on Sunday, April 4, 2004, in Bethany, the Motherhouse, in the 67th year of her religious life. Born in Melford, Inverness Co., she was the daughter of the late Daniel O. and Catherine Anne (Boyle) Doyle. Sister Jean entered the Congregation, September 8, 1935 and pronounced her first vows on July 16,1937. From 1937-1940 she studied at Mount St. Bernard College in Antigonish, and obtained a license to teach crafts in the schools in Dominion and Margaree Forks. For one year she taught crafts to patients in Antigonish at St. Martha's Hospital. In 1954 she graduated from Provincial Normal College in Truro with a First Class Academic License, and after receiving her bachelor's degree, she studied for her Master of Arts at Boston University, Boston, Mass., graduating in 1972. She taught regular academic classes in schools in Canso, Dover, East Bay, Portage, Eskasoni, and St. Peter's, and in Picture Butte, Alta. She was a „ø

DOREY, Joseph Arthur - 82, Halifax, passed away peacefully in Camp Hill Veterans' Memorial Building, QEII, on September 19, 2007. Born on Janvrin Island, Richmond Co., he was a son of the late Joseph Arthur Dorey and Lily Gaudet. He was a veteran of the Second World War, having served in the United Kingdom, France and the Netherlands in combat. He was employed by the Department of National Defence as a heavy equipment operator for 45 years. Although a resident of Halifax for most of his life, he had a profound love for Cape Breton, and maintained a cottage on Janvrin Island. He was an avid boatman and a member of the Armdale Yacht Club for over 25 years. He was also a long-time member of St. Mary's Basilica Parish, where he was an usher at the Sunday 7:30 mass. He was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Rita (Pellerine) in 2002; twin daughters at birth, and his sister, Lillian (the late Stanley Pellerine). He is survived by his sons, J. Albert (Pierre M. Proulx), Halifax, and Michael, Janvrin Island. He is also survived by brothers, Gilbert (Ella) and Everett, Janvrin Island; sisters, Mabel (the late Placide Bellefontaine) and Christina (Neil Opdebeck), Halifax; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, including godson, David Pellerine, Edmonton. DEVOE, Gwendolyn - 76, Alder Point, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on Thursday, November 29, 2007. Born in Alder Point, she was a daughter of the late Dan Joe and Doris (Simon) Laffin. Gwen saw good in all things and all people. While her life was dedicated to her family, she also provided support to the family business and for a short time assisted in the delivery of rural mail in Bras d'Or. With the love of the outdoors, she spent her summers camping and boating and many hours in her flower garden. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she created a warm, welcoming environment in a home filled with her own crafts and beloved collection of teddy bears. She enjoyed days filled with her visiting grandchildren and her hobbies, which included playing cards, outdoor sports activities and watching the Montreal Canadiens hockey games with a good cup of coffee. In her earlier years, she was an active member of the Parish Council and the treasurer for the CB Radio Club. She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Clarence; sons, Christopher (Lois), Sydney; Danny (Lori), St. Catharines, Ont.; Ronnie, Sydney Mines; Kevin (Corrine), Alder Point; Tim (Heather Ann), Halifax; daughters, Nancy, Bedford; Susan (David) Harrietha, Georges River, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by brothers, Joseph (Rita), Michael (Jeanette), and sisters, Ann and Judy (Jimmy) Penny. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Kevin (Stephanie), D.D. (Unetha) and sisters, Blanche and Bernadette. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Sunday, December 2, in Francis Funeral Home, Main Street, Sydney Mines.  DOYLE, Sister Irene - Formerly Sister Mary Anselm, 95, a Sister of St. Martha of Antigonish, died at Bethany, the Motherhouse, on July 7, 2008, in the 76th year of her religious life. Born in Melford, Cape Breton Co., she was a daughter of the late Daniel O'Connell and Catherine (Boyle) Doyle. Sister Irene entered the Sisters of St. Martha on September 8, 1930, pronounced her first vows on July 11, 1932, and made her perpetual commitment on August 24, 1935. Also in 1935, she graduated from St. Francis Xavier University with a B.Sc. in Home Economics and began her ministry with the Extension Department of St. F.X. Sister was a field worker in the Extension Department from 1935-39, 1940-44 and 1947-52. The years off from the Extension Department were used to attend Massachusetts School of Art and Design and to serve as Mistress of Postulants for the congregation. In 1952 Sister Irene took part-time studies in the field of child welfare and social work. She began full-time study at Boston College in 1953, graduating in 1956 with a Master of Science in Social Work. Until her election to serve as General Councillor in the Congregation in 1961, Sister Irene worked at Family Counselling and Guidance Centre in Boston. She was a certified charter member in the following associations: Canadian Social Work Association of Nova Scotia and Canada, and in the U.S. National Association and the U.S. Academy of Certified Social Workers. Sister served as General Councillor for the congregation for two terms, 1961-67 and 1967-73. During her second term as Councillor, she served as Vicar General of the congregation. Following a year of renewal, she returned to social work in 1975, ministering at Family Counselling and Guidance Centre in Boston until 1979. During some of her years of service as General Councillor, Sister Irene worked as the Director of Staff Development for CSM Social Workers in the Antigonish Diocese. She also served as the Local Superior in four of the Martha residences where she lived. After retiring from social work, Sister Irene served as director of our two retreat centres, Martha Center in Lethbridge, Alta., and Bethany Centre in Antigonish. Sister was always interested and involved in keeping the history of the Sisters of St. Martha alive, documented and recorded. From 1990-2005, Sister Irene served the congregation as Oral Historian. Sister moved into Bethany's Extended Care Unit in June 2008, a few short weeks ago. In 1975 she received an Exemplary Service Award from the Extension Department and Coady International Institute of St. Francis Xavier University. In 1982 Sister was given an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Laws from St. Francis Xavier University. In 1997, Sister Irene was inducted into the Hall of Thought at the same university. These awards were given for her qualities and accomplishments, her exemplary dedication and service to adult education with the Extension Department, in the field of social service, as well as for her contribution to the University and the church. Sister Irene is survived by sister, Romayne Waye, Port Hawkesbury. She was predeceased by sisters, Ida Fougere, Ethel, Frances, Helene Gertrude, Sister Jean, CSM, and Marjorie MacGillivray; and by brother, Myles Daniel, who died in infancy. The remains will be resting at Bethany beginning on Thursday, July 10, at 1:15 p.m., where a Celebration of Vigil will be held on the same evening at 7:30. DOYLE, Jerome Angus - 75, beloved son of the late Joseph Edward Doyle (1955) and Catherine Isabel (Boyle) Doyle (1977), passed away on July 8, 2008, of cancer at the Caressant Care Nursing Home in Bourget, Ont. He was born July 15, 1933, in Inverness, and was raised in Mabou. He owned and managed the General Store in Mabou for many years. He traveled and lived throughout Canada and the United States during his life. He always maintained a good sense of humour and was an enthusiastic storyteller. He is survived by his sister, Mary Teresa Doyle Goodwin; nephews, Jonathan Goodwin and Micah Goodwin; niece, Rachel Goodwin; two grandnephews and a grandniece. The body was cremated. The funeral mass will be held on Thursday, July 17, at 11 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, Mabou, and burial will follow in the parish cemetery. The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the staff at Caressant Care Nursing Home for their loving care and kindness. It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing  of our father, grandfather, brother and friend,  Raymond Bernard David. Raymond passed away  Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at the age of 74, at  his residence in Tower Road, after a brief battle with cancer surrounded by family. Born in Glace Bay on Feb. 2, 1937, he was the son of the late Theodore and Emilie (Lemal) David.Dad was a mechanic by trade working at Sheps Garage and others in Glace Bay for 35 years.He was a member of Tower Road fire department for 45 years and fire chief for numerous years. He also was a bar steward at the fire hall. Dad enjoyed his morning meetings with buddies, Forbes, Daniel, Rudy, Brian, Walter, Alec, Blair and families. He looked forward to activities and "get-togethers" where he played the accordion "Annabelle" with his talented friends. Dad will be sadly missed by his children, Raymond, Ontario, Michelle (Gerry), Ontario, John (Marie), Tower Road, Robert (Patricia), Ontario, Stephen (Candace), Manitoba, Nicole (Aaron), Tower Road; 15 cherished grandchildren and Tessa, his little friend. Also surviving, Louise and Veronica MacKinnon; sisters, Georgina Bourque, Windsor, Ont., Lorraine Parrish, Detroit, Mich.;
and numerous nieces and nephews in Ontario and Cape Breton.Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Marcel, sisters, Madeline Pettipas, Adeline Swartz and Jean Deering.In accordance with dad's wishes, cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. With sadness, we the family regret to announce the passing of Emily MacIsaac on Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2011, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital surrounded by her family. Born July 5, 1916, in Sydney, Emily was the daughter of the late Jack and Mable (MacIntyre) Digou. Emily was the oldest surviving member of the South Bar community. She was a member of St. Alphonsus Parish, the CWL and a member of the ladies auxiliary of the South Bar Fire Department. She graduated from the Empire Business College of Cape Breton. She dedicated her services in child welfare for over 50 years. Emily will always be remembered by her family and friends as peaceful and loving. Emily is survived by her children, Della Cameron, Donnie (Jeanette), Johnnie (Janet), Greg (Jenny), Ray (Cathy) and Faye (Alex) Hanna. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jody, Tara, J.J., Jason, Cheryl, Alana, Holly, Billy, Jody, Joey, Darren, Gregory, Shelly; 16 great-grandchildren and foster children, Clifford Sampson, Albert Sampson, Brenda O'Connor, Donna King, Ronnie Campbell, Robert MacNeil, Vince MacNeil, Shequinta Clyke and Gail Farmer - although they weren't born from her womb they were certainly born from her heart. Dorey, Violet "Vi" Mary 91 Halifax passed away December 30, 2011 in Melville Lodge.
Born in West Arichat, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Louise LeBlanc. She and her late husband Wilfred had a very special and loving relationship. Vi had the ability to make everyone around her smile, laugh and enjoy the basic values in life which really matter. In addition to being a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she was very proud of her children and grandchildren and their accomplishments in life. She enjoyed baking, listening to Irish music and spending time with family and friends. Her warm personality enriched the lives of those around her. Surviving her are her
