WEISSANT, Harold Henry - 81, Little Anse, Richmond Co., died March 7, 1996, at home. Born in Wakefield, Mass., he was a son of the late Henry and Mary (Young) Weissant. Surviving are his wife, the former Delima Rose Samson; daughters, Debbie Weissant, Halifax; Donna (Mrs. Kevin Olsen), Lower Sackville; two grandchildren. He was predeceased by brother, Bill. SISTER FRANCES PAULA (NEE Laura Melinda White)

Friends and former pupils of Sister Frances Paula (the former Laura Melinda White, Whiteside, Richmond Co.)will learn with regret  of her death at the Halifax Infirmary after an illness of several months.  Sister Frances Paula was a member of the Sisters of Charity for thirty-eight years, during which time she taught school in Metegan, Glace Bay, North Sydney, Havre Boucher and the past two years in Yarmouth.  She leaves to mourn her passing two sisters, (her twin) Mrs. Clara Donahue, Arichat; Ida, Mrs. James Duggan, New York City; three brothers, Ambrose and William White, Whiteside and Paul White in St. Peter’s.  Funeral was held from St. Mary’s Cathedral, halifax, with Rev. Fr. Mills celebrant of the funeral mass.  Interment was in Mount Oliver Cemetery, Halifax.

WOODBURY, Leda Agnes - 73, St. Peter's, Richmond County, formerly of Poulamond, died Saturday in St. Martha's Hospital, Antigonish as a result of a car accident. Born in Poirierville, she was a daughter of the late James and Rozanne (Samson) Cordeau. She is survived by two daughters, Elaine Marie (Mrs. Billy Joe Dobbs), Wyoming; Ina Faith (Mrs. Melvin Northway) California; a son, Merle John, California; two sisters, Blanche Landry, Poulamond, Stella LeBlanc Halifax, nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Leon George; four sisters, Gertie, Theresa, Mary, Helen Ann, a brother, Clancie. The body is in St. Hyacinth Church, D'Escousse, where funeral will be held 2 p.m... Thursday, Rev. Jim Mombourquette officiating. The body will be transferred to Sydney for cremation. Burial at a later date in California.

Born in  Poulamon, he was a son of the late Martin and Eva (LeBlanc) White. He was a veteran of the Second World War. Surviving are his wife, Lillian; daughter, Linda (Mrs. Thomas Bonin), Halifax; sons, Kevin, Clayton  Halifax; sister, Estelle, Louisdale; brothers, Arthur, Ontario; Ronnie,  Poulamon; four grandchildren; a great-grandchild. WALL (Sampson), Giselle Ann - 46, Residing in Dartmouth and formerly from Sydney, N.S., passed away suddenly on February 7, 2001, after a lengthy battle with Scleroderma. Loving daughter, sister, mother, and friend. She was the daughter of the late Vincent Joseph Sampson. She is survived by a daughter, Alicia Wall; son, Brian Wall; her mother, Edith Sampson; sisters, Leta Thomas, Darlene Griffith; brothers, Ivan Sampson, Larry Snow, and Wayne Sampson. She will be fondly remembered for her strength and courage, as well as, her loving nature and goodwill. The family would like to thank the staff of Scotia Bank and Zellers, and Great-West Life Assurance Company, the City Courts of Sydney, NS; the nurses at Dartmouth General and all others for their donations and support. Names of three killed in crash released

MARSHY HOPE - Three members of a Cape Breton family have been identified as those killed in a head-on collision Monday afternoon on Highway 104 in Pictou County.
Killed in the crash were Jean Ellen Mombourquette, 65, of Rockdale; her daughter, Sharon Elizabeth Webb, 45, of Lower L'Ardoise; and Mrs.Mombourquette's brother-in-law, George Albert Wright, 65, of Port Hawkesbury.
Mr. Wright was the driver of a westbound vehicle that was struck by a sport utility vehicle driven by a 45-year-old Ontario man.
A third passenger in the Wright vehicle - which was travelling to Halifax for Mrs. Mombourquette's son's university graduation - and the SUV driver remained in hospital Tuesday with serious injuries.
A Stellarton RCMP spokesman said the SUV crossed the centre line on a straight stretch near Marshy Hope and sideswiped a car driven by a 74-year-old woman, whose 80-year-old husband was her passenger, and then collided head-on with Mr. Wright's car.
Roads were dry under overcast skies at the time.
RCMP are investigating.

She was a member of Holy Guardian Angels Parish. She was a dental assistant at Dr. W.B. Kingston Medical Clinic with Dr. T. Mombourquette. Sharon was known for her kindness towards her pets. She is survived by Donnie Webb, Dartmouth; daughters, Shelly (Glen), Rockdale; son, Derek (Jenny), Lower L'Ardoise; granddaughter, Morgan; brothers, Mark, Lower L'Ardoise; John, Dartmouth; Wade, Chezzetcook;
sisters, Lisa, Enfield. Sharon's mother, Jean passed away as a result of the same motor vehicle accident. Cremation has taken place. WHITE, Ambri Augustine "Mickey" - 70, well-known Truro resident, died April 24, 2002, in Colchester Regional Hospital. Born in Whiteside, Cape Breton, he was a son of the late Paul Joseph and Anna Elizabeth (MacDonald) White. Ambri spent his early childhood in Sydney and later childhood in St. Peter's, where he was a star pitcher for the St. Peter's Royals. In 1953, he
graduated from Saint Francis Xavier University with a bachelor's degree in commerce, enjoying many university days as a varsity hockey player for the Xmen. He began his career with the Royal Bank of Canada, owned and operated White's Shoes and retired from his position of business manager with Nova Scotia Teacher's College in 1992. During his lifetime, Ambri was the past president/chairperson of the United Way, Red Cross, Cancer Society, Truro Housing Authority, Truro and District School Bands Auxiliary and the Truro Rotary Club. He received the Rotary International Paul Harris Fellow Award in 1991. Ambri was an avid sportsman throughout his life, remaining a member of the Truro Golf Club for over 35 years. Ambri was known
for his quiet manner and keen sense of humour. He is survived by his wife, Anne (McMahon); daughters, Carolyn Bartlett (Dale), Truro; Patricia Mock (Kirk), Dartmouth; grandchildren, Brittany, Christopher and Jessica Bartlett; Jordan, Jeremy and Laura Mock; brother, Kelvin (Mary), Rothesay, N.B.; chosen siblings, Mary Richard, Cleveland; Cyril, Halifax; Gladys Bradley, Ontario; Thomas, Halifax. WHITE, Cyril - 78, Halifax, passed away August 31, 2004, in Camp Hill Veterans' Memorial Building, QEII. Born in Whiteside, Cape Breton, he was a son of the late Ambrose and Catherine (Carroll) White. He served in the Navy during the Second World War and afterwards in the Air Force up to the early 1960's. He then worked for Canada Post for 25 years and then served as a commissionaire. Surviving are his wife, Nina (Bransfield) White; daughter, Jennifer (Cory Raymond), Halifax; sons, Jeffrey (Lisa Richard), Halifax; Bradley, Calgary; sisters, Gladys (Doug) Bradley, Trenton, Ont.; Mary Richard, Lower River; brother, Thomas, Halifax; many nieces and nephews. WILKS, Julia Mae - 75, Halifax, passed away on October 9, 2004, in the New Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born in L'Ardoise, Cape Breton, she was a daughter of the late Helair and Mary (Briand) Taylor. She is survived by her loving sons, Wayne (Mamie), Gary and Kenneth; grandchildren, Miranda and Adam; great-grandson, Coady; brothers, Walter, Charles and Herman; sisters, Rita McKay and Gertrude Mombourquette; brother-in-law, Grant Wilks. She was predeceased by her husband, Roy Wilks; brothers, Louis, Fred and Frank; sisters, Hilda Pottie and Joan Burkey. Julia was a founding member of the Ostomy Association of Nova Scotia. Julia Mae Wilks,75, Halifax,  died 9 oct, 2004 at Halifax Hospital. Born in l"Ardoise, she was daughter of the late Helaire Taylor and Marie Briand. Mary Alma (Snow) Webster was the granddaughter of Hilaire Elie Martel and Marie Marguerite Pâté of L'Ardoise.

WEBSTER, Mary Alma - 95, passed away peacefully May 6, 2006, in The Birches, Musquodoboit Harbour. Born in Halifax, she was the daughter of the late Charles E. and Mary (Martell) Snow. She lived and worked in Halifax and Bedford until she moved with her husband, Harold, to Musquodoboit Harbour in the 70's. She worked at The Chicken Burger in Bedford and volunteered at The Birches. Alma and Harold loved to dance and attended many dances in Porters Lake and Nine Mile River area. Alma was predeceased by her husband, Harold, and brother, Freeman. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Sarah; numerous cousins, including Sister Theresa Sampson, Findlay Samson and Caroline Bonin. She will be sadly missed by her husband's sister, Gladys Black; nephew, Raymond Black, as well as other family members and friends. WAMBOLT, Sadie Mary - 88, passed away on January 27, 2008, in Beaver Bank. Born on November 14, 1919 in Rockdale, Cape Breton, she was a daughter of the late Bernard and Minnie Landry. Sadie spent 26 years in Sherwood Forest Camping Park as a camper with her husband, Everett, where they had many enjoyable and memorable good times with marvelous camping friends. Sadie was
a long-time member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish where she was an active member of the CWL for over 35 years. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed Saturday night card games with friends. She is survived by daughter, Beverley; sons, Paul (Audrey), Keith (Elizabeth); stepson, Kevin; stepdaughters, Patricia (Barry) MacLean, Bernice (Donald) Levy; grandchildren, Curtis (Jocelyn), Brent (Sheila), Michael (Stephanie), Adam (Stephanie), Kimberley (Jason) Boutilier, Heather MacLean, California, and great-granddaughter, Adalia, and several nieces and nephews. family. WRIGHT, Robert Bruce
WRIGHT, Robert Bruce - 58, Petit de Grat, passed away on January 25, 2008, at home. Born in Digby, he was a son of Norman and Phyllis (Power) Wright of Digby. Bruce worked at St. Ann Hospital in Arichat for 10 years as an x-ray and lab technician. He was also a Civil Servant for the Department of Community Services for 13 years. Bruce was a Provincial NDP candidate in 1978, as well as an active member of KOC Council 4607, West Arichat. He served as a board member and associate member of the Isle Madame Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 150, Arichat. He was a former member of the Richmond District School Board, and sat on the Board of Directors of the St. Joseph's Credit Union in Petit de Grat. He was awarded the Queen Scout from Scouts Canada, of which he was extremely proud. He is survived by his former wife, Janasta Doiron Wright, Louisdale; daughters, Stacey Wright-Thibeau and Shari Wright (companion Richard Parker), both of Petit de Grat; brothers, Roger,
Ontario; Leigh (Gloria), Bear River; Jon (Bernadette), Riverview, N.B.; brother-in-law, Daniel (Cathy) Doiron, Port Hawkesbury; sisters-in-law, Edwina (Raymond) Malloy, Arichat, and their children Jackie Samson, Jennie Pardy, Ray Malloy and Janasta Chiasson; Rose (Howard) Samson, Petit de Grat, and their children Wayne, Shawn and Ron Samson; grandchildren, Kristen Callahan, Eric Thibeau, Tori Parker, and Riley Parker. Born in Janvrin Harbour on May 4, 1917, she was a daughter of the late Daniel Joseph and Euphemia (Robinson) MacNeil. Florence was a homemaker and a member of Holy Trinity Parish, Waycobah. She will be sadly missed by daughters, Shirley MacKay, Orangedale; Sharlene Woods, Halifax; son, John W. "Bill" (Margie) Sutherland, Lower Sackville; brother, Rod MacNeil, Edwardsville; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.             WIRRELL, Muriel May - 85, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2008, at the home of her daughter in Toronto, Ont. Born in on September 28,1922, Muriel was the eldest daughter of the late
Alec Pottie and Virginia (Briand-Pottie) Sampson, also her stepfather, William Sampson. She was predeceased by her husband, Francis A. (Frank) Wirrell. She was the loving mother of Gloria Marjorie Arnold, Marie Martell and Shirley MacDonald, all of Halifax. She was the cherished grandmother of Rene, British Columbia; Andre (Jeannette), Calgary, Alta.; Marc (Susan) St. OngeBowmanville, Ont.; Lisa (Heith) Klaassen, Deep River, Ont.; Todd Levy, Terri (Ken) Spence, Toronto, Ont.; great-grandchildren, Amber and Kelsey Spence, Toronto, Ont.; David, Jessica, Amanda and Peter St. OngeBowmanville, Ont. She is also survived by many loving nieces and  nephews. Mom worked as a cashier at the Capitol Theatre in Halifax  for 30 years where she made many friends. She enjoyed movies,
 reading and singing especially with her long-time friend of 70 years, Philla Noddin, not to forget the Chit Chat Club which she enjoyed every week for a number of years. Mom always kept in
touch with her many relatives and friends by phone or with cards. She was a happy person which was reflected by her ability to always remember special occasions of all those who knew and loved her. Mom always said that she enjoyed life. We will always remember her kind and  thoughtful ways, also her beautiful smile. Mom, Nanny, Nanny G, we love you and will miss you always. Cremation has taken place in Toronto, Ont. A service will be held in Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552  Bayers Rd., Halifax, on February 25 at 1 p.m. Reception to

WAMBOLDT, Rev. Msgr. William John Stanislaus, JCD - Priest of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Halifax, Pastor of St. Joseph's Parish in Bridgewater, died at home in St. Joseph's Rectory, on Saturday, March 15, 2008, after several weeks of illness. Born in Halifax on October 11, 1942, to William Henry and Mary Dolorosa (Burke) Wamboldt, he received his early education in Halifax and Dartmouth and completed undergraduate studies at Saint Mary's University in Halifax, while living at Bishop Burke House. He was ordained to priesthood by Most Rev. James M. Hayes, Archbishop of Halifax, at St. Genevieve's Church in East Chezzetcook on May 30, 1970. He graduated from St. Paul's University in Ottawa in 1970 with a Licentiate in Sacred Theology and a Master of Theology. In 1974 he began advanced studies in Canon Law at St. Paul's, and at the same time was appointed Secretary to the Apostolic Nuncio for Canada. From 1975-78 he attended the Pontifical Ecclesiastical Academy in Rome, and graduated from the Pontifical Gregorian University in 1978 with a Doctorate in Canon Law, magna cum laude, and a diploma in Diplomatic Studies and International Law from the Vatican Diplomatic College. In his first years of priesthood, he served as assistant in the Halifax City parishes of St. Patrick's, St. Joseph's and St. Stephen's. He then served the Holy See, as Secretary for the Nunciature in Bangladesh (1978), Charge d'affaires at the Nunciature in Dacca (1979) and Chaplain of Honour to His Holiness. Returning to the Archdiocese of Halifax, he assisted in St. Catherine's Parish, Halifax, and St. John Vianney Parish, Lower Sackville, until 1981, when he began 14 years as Pastor of St. Rose of Lima Parish in Fall River. He then served as Pastor for Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, Rockingham (1995 - 2001) and, after a sabbatical, became pastor at St. Joseph's Parish in Bridgewater, St. Norbert's, Lunenburg, and St. Matthew's, Elmwood. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, 4th degree. In addition to his service in parishes, Msgr. Wamboldt served the Archdiocese of Halifax as Chancellor (1980-1986), Coordinator of the 1984 Visit of His Holiness Pope John Paul II, Canonical Advisor to the Archbishop, and Associate Judicial Vicar of the Archdiocesan Marriage Tribunal. He taught Canon Law to Roman Catholic seminarians, diaconal candidates, and lay students at Atlantic School of Theology for several years. He was highly respected for his pastoral application of canon law and his compassionate spirit, giving good advice to others in the diocese who depended on his wise counsel. Msgr. Wamboldt is survived by his sisters and their husbands and children, Sheila (Edgar) Wadden, Porters Lake; Marie (Edmond) Lorette, Elizabeth (Richard) Martin, Linda (Lewis) Goodyear, Darlene (Russell) Pettipas, all of Chezzetcook. He was always "Uncle Boo" to Lise, Danny, Scott, Jackie, Gregory, Stephanie, Billy, Stephen, Paul, Matthew, Mark, Meagan and Mackenzie. He was predeceased by his parents, and his nephew, Christopher Martin. Visitation was held in the chapel below St. Joseph's Church, 123 Pleasant St., in Bridgewater, Sunday, March 16, from 7-9 p.m., and Monday, March 17, beginning at 2 p.m. The Evening Prayer Vigil took place in St. Joseph's Church Monday at 8 p.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated in the church today at 11 a.m., Most Rev. Anthony Mancini, Archbishop of Halifax, presiding. Committal will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville. Funeral arrangements are through Sweeny's Funeral Home, Bridgewater. Donations in memory may be made to St. Genevieve Parish in East Chezzetcook or to one of the three parishes where he was pastor.

WOLFE, Marie Evangline "Vangie" - 82, Halifax, passed away peacefully July 14, 2008, surrounded by her immediate family. Born in West Arichat, she was predeceased by her loving husband, Herman (Worrell). She leaves behind her much loved son and daughter-in-law, Peter and Denise; her beloved grandson, Mitchell; siblings, Joseph (Dorothy) Theriault, Ruth (Paul) Cadeau, Henry (Debbie) Theriault, Danny (Leona) Theriault and Ruby Theriault. She was also predeceased by her siblings, Leona, Leonard, and recently by her much loved sister, Clarisse (Gerald) Kelly. Upon coming to Halifax during the war, she worked within the hospitality industry at such establishments as The Green Lantern, The Carlton Hotel and, up until her retirement, The Old Asburn Golf Club. She was actively involved in church life at the former St. Pius X, with such groups as the C.W.L., The Daughters of Isabella, etc. Recently her time was spent with the Red Hatters, Senior Lunch Program and as a volunteer at The School for the Blind. Past summers were spent at Hubbards Beach Campground. Quick with a smile and a big heart, she was loved by those who knew her. Her love of life made age no barrier, as she was always comfortable with any group of friends. A celebration of her life will be held in Saint Lawrence Church at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 18. Reception to follow in the church hall. By request, family flowers only. There will be no visitation. Donations may be made in her name to The School for the Blind. Interment will be held in Oakridge Memorial Gardens.

WHITE, Lillian Margaret - 77, Louisdale. It is with great sadness that we announce her passing on Thursday, July 24, 2008, in Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston. Born in Notre Dame Bay, N.L., she was a daughter of the late Claude and Meta (White) Rideout. She was the beloved mother of daughter, Linda Bonin (Tom), and sons, Clayton (Sandra) and Kevin (Terry); sister of Clarence, Newfoundland, and Melvin, Florida. She will be sadly missed by her nieces, nephews, grandchildren, Troy, Tara, Matt, Michael, Robbie, and great-grandchildren, Cheyenne, Ben, Jordyn, and of course her Bingo friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Homer White; brothers, Reuben, Wilfred in infancy, and sister, Bernice also in infancy. Cremation has taken place. Isabel Marie (Wilcox) Wark, of Trenton, and recently at home at Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow, passed away Monday, December 5, 2011 with her family with her. Born in Trenton, she was a daughter of the late James Bernard and Mary Marie (Landry) Wilcox. She enjoyed her life with her family at the Lake. Skating was her passion. She is survived by daughters: Sandra (Newton) Hattie, Trenton; Nancy (Ron) Murray, Vancouver; sons: Gary (Connie), Edmonton; Alan (Janet) , Granton; Glen (Kelly), B.C.; Jimmy (Heather), Greenhill; 17 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; sisters: Helen, Toronto; Elsa, Toronto; Liz (Mike) Bryan, Lismore; brother: Douglas (Fran), Midland, ON. She was predeceased by her husband Keith and brother Bernie. Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 pm Thursday in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, Trenton.
