Ludlow High School Play

This photo was taken in May 1922. My father, Lee Robinson (1902-1983), is at the far left, cast in the role of the villain. Next to him is the hero, Leland Hamblin (1904-1974). Seated, playing comic relief, is Lester Bryan (1902-1993). Lester was the son of Horace Jefferson Bryan and Geneavie Frith.

The costume budget was very limited, so Lester's "beard" was actually swiped from an unsuspecting goat.

This is the theatre on Main Street in downtown Ludlow, where many Ludlow students will remember giving their class plays and recitals.

When my father started high school, Ludlow had only a two-year program. He graduated from there, then went to Lafayette high School in St. Joseph to attend a four year school and get the credentials he needed to go on to college. Before he graduated from Lafayette, Ludlow changed to a four-year program, so Daddy returned to Ludlow and graduated a second time. I believe that helps explain why he and Lester were 19-year old seniors.

I wish I could identify some of the other cast members, but time and their costumes prevent me from doing so.
