Born in New Jersey in 1775, Andrew Teachman lived the early part of his life in that state and it was there that he married Eleanor Board sometime after 1800. Their first children were born before 1810 in New Jersey. In May of 1816, Andrew purchased a plot of land measuring just under 16 acres in Pompton Township, Bergen Co., NJ for $60.32. He sold the property four years later, in May 1820, for $64.08. After the birth of Andrew and Eleanor's last child, John W. Teachman, the family moved on. In 1830, Andrew and Eleanor were living in Elmira, Tioga County, NY. In 1835 the family moved to Tioga County, PA and by 1840, they had settled there. It was there that Andrew died in 1851 and Eleanor in 1855.

Abraham Teachman (Andrew) was a shoemaker in Tioga Co., PA in 1850. By 1870, he was farming in Oakland Twp., Tioga Co., PA with real estate valued at $1500. In 1880, he, Louisa, Amy and Frank were living in Farmington Township, Tioga Co., PA.

Maria Teachman Culp (Andrew) and her husband John took awhile to settle down. The family lived in New York from about 1831 to 1838 when they moved to PA. In 1840, the family, with four children under the age of 10, lived next to her father, Andrew. Eldest son, Charles H., was born 22 January 1840. On 2 June 1848, John was listed with the 9th Div., 6th Co., 2nd Btl., of the PA Militia. Third son, John H., was born 29 October 1848 in Hornell, PA. In 1850, they were living in Farmington Township, Tioga Co. near other members of Maria's family. John was a farmer with real estate valued at $500. Their youngest children, Jacob and Sophrona, were born in New York in the early 1850s. The family then moved to Ohio. In 1860, the family lived in Fremont, Sandusky Co., OH. John was a farmer with property valued at $200. By 1870, John, Maria and youngest son Jacob were living in Jackson Co., MI. John listed no real estate and $300 for personal estate. By 1880, John and Maria had moved to Toledo, Lucas Co., OH. John was a teamster and living in the household with them was a 6-year-old grandson, Edwin Gee. Times were difficult for their daughter, Saphronia Gee. She was separated from her husband, Charles A. Gee. She and daughter Maud were living with sisters Margaret Clark and Rebecca and her husband Jacob Sebring in Wright Township, Hillsdale Co., Michigan. Charles (listed as Edwin in the 1880 census) was living with John and Maria, while William was living with an aunt and uncle, Frank and Sarah Van Nest (listed in the 1880 census as Vamp). In 1884, Charles was divorced from Saphronia. In the early 1890s, sons William and Charles left home and settled in northeastern Nebraska. Maria Culp died after 1880. John lived in Bowling Green, OH the last two years of his life. From the Wood County Sentinel, 18 April 1889: "John Culp, aged 80, died at the infirmary Monday night. He had been an inmate there since last fall, and a resident of this county but two years, having previously lived at Fremont." In the late 1890s, Saphronia married William Nettleton, a salesman for a petroleum company. The couple lived in Toledo, Ohio. In 1909, Saphronia made a trip to Nebraska to visit with her sons. After 1910, she and William moved to Charlotte Co., VA and it was there that the couple died.

Andrew Teachman Jr. (Andrew) married Nancy Warren before 1845. Their children came quickly. In 1850, he was a laborer living in Farmington Township, Tioga Co., PA. He would stay there the remainder of his life. In 1860, he was farming with real estate valued at $1,000. By 1870 he and his family were living on a farm in Elkland, Tioga Co., PA.

David Teachman (Andrew), like a number of his siblings, was a farmer. He lived all of his adult life in Tioga County. On 2 June 1848, he was listed with the PA Militia. In 1850, his farm was valued at $1,500. By 1860, the value had increased to $1,600. Something of a rarity in the Teachman family, David died rather young at the age of 50. After David's death, Olive remained on the farm. From the Wellsboro Agitator, 13 Nov. 1907: "Mrs. Olive Teachman, aged 85, widow of the late David Teachman, is in very poor health. She is two years older than her brother, Rev. Charles Weeks. Mrs. Teachman has resided for over 65 years on the same farm and that in sight of her father's home."

Margaret Teachman Rowley (Andrew) was born in New York State. After her marriage to Solomon Rowley, the family did some moving before settling in Hillsdale Co., MI. Between 1841 and 1844 there was a move to Illinois and between 1844 and 1847 a move back to be closer to family in Tioga Co., PA. Between 1852 and 1859 the Rowley's moved to Swan Creek Township, Fulton Co., OH, and farmed not far from Luke Teachman (b. 1777). In 1870, they were in Amboy Township, Fulton Co., OH and remained there through the 1880 census. In 1900, Solomon and Margaret owned a place in Pittsford Township, Hillsdale Co., MI.

Eleanor Teachman Hills (Andrew), like her sister Margaret, lived for a while in OH before settling in Michigan. Eleanor and Nathan were married in Tioga Co., PA. Between 1850 and 1860 the family moved to Scott Township, Sandusky Co., OH and between 1861 and 1870, the move to Wright Township, Hillsdale Co., MI was made. From a newspaper item: "After a long and wearisome journey by wagon from Ohio, Mr. and Mrs. Hills settled on the present homestead. Here by dint of hard work, a comfortable home was provided. The sons grew to manhood and the last days of life were pleasantly spent." While Nathan Hills was a farmer, two of his sons, Luke and Abe, started a tile and brick making industry.

John W. Teachman (Andrew), like many of his relatives, was a farmer. He married Esther Weeks, the sister of David Teachman's wife, Olive. John and Esther lived their entire married life in Tioga Co., PA.
