Will of Elizon Prichard 1661

In the name of God Amen the ffirst day of May in the thirteenth yeare of the raigne of our sovraigne Lord Charles the second by the grace of God King of England Scotland France and Ireland, defender of the fayth &c I Elizon Prichard of the p[ar]ish of Langattocke Llingoed in the County of Monmouth gent being sicke in body, but of good & p[er]fect memory (prayse be given to Allmighty God) doe make & ordaine this my last will & testament in manner & forme following (that is to say). First & principally I com[m]itt & com[m]end my soule into the hands of Allmighty God my maker hoping by the merritts & passion of Jesus Christ my saviour & redeemer to be made partaker of life everlasting. and my body to the earth to be buried in Christian buriall att the discretion of my executrix hereafter to be named. And as for such temporall goods cattle & chattells as God hath in this world blessed mee with I give bequeath & dispose thereof by the p[er]mission of Allmighty God in manner
& to the effect following. First I give & bequeath towards the repa[ra]c[i]on of the Cathedrall Church of Landaffe six pence. Item I give & bequeath to the viccar of Langattocke Llingoed aforesaid towards my forgotten tyethes six pence. The residue of a1l my goods cattle chattells debts creditts houshould stuffe & p[er]sonall estate whatsoever herein unbequeathed I give & bequeath to my loving children James Prichard, William Prichard, Mary Prichard, Anne Prichard & Jane Prichard to be equally divided betweene them, such debts as I shall owe att the time of my decease & my funerall expences being first deducted out of the same and my will & meaning is, that my loving wife Johan Prichard shall have the use & custody of all my said goods houshould stuffe and p[er]sonall estate during her naturall life in considerat[i]on & towards the maintenance of my said children. And whereas my said wife is now with child, my will & meaning is that such child if itt pleaseth Allmighty God he or shee should be borne alive shall have an equall proportion & share of my said p[er]sonall estate with the rest of my children before named. And I doe nominate appoint ordayne & make my said wife Johan Prichard to be sole & onely executrix ofthis my last will & testament. In wittnes whereof I have hereunto putt my hand & seale the day moneth & yeare above written. Elizon Prichard
