In the Name of Gods Grace the Fourth day of March in ... the year of our Lord God 1718 I Henry Phillips of the Parish of Langottog Lingood in the County of Monmouth Yeom[an] being sick and weak in body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God therefore calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all Men once to dye doe make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following (that is to say) First and principally I give my soul into the the Earth to be buried in Christian and decent manner nothing doubting but at the general Resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God And as touching such wordly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life I give devise bequeath and dispose the same in manner and form following Impr[im]is I give devise and bequeath unto my Son John Phillips his Executors Administrators and Assigns All that Messuage or Tenement called the Cumbach together with all the lands arrable meadow pasture and wood thereunto belonging with their appurtenances situate lying and being within the Parish of Clodock and County of Hereford during the unexpired term of the Lease of the premisses heretofore granted by one Henry Watkins Corvicor/im[m]ediately from and after the decease of my Mother Sibill Watkins Item I give and bequeath unto my Sister Mary the sum[m]e of one pound to be paid her within the space of one whole year next after my decease Item I give devise and bequeath unto my Wife Catherine the sum[m]e of Sixty pounds which lies in the hands of James Price of Rollstone Yeom[an] secured by virtue of one Indenture of Mortgage dated the Second day of August 1715 And in default of payment of the said sum[m]e contrary to the true intent and meaning of the said Indenture of Mortgage I give and devise the Messuage Grist Mill and the Lands mortgaged in the said Indenture to my said Wife Catherine her Heirs and Assigns for ever (Subject to the Proviso therein mentioned) Item I give and bequeath unto my Wife Catherine the sum[m]e of Sixty pounds which lies in the hands of George George of the Parish of Skenfrith in the County of Monmouth Yeoman secured by virtue of one Indenture of Mortgage dated the third day of January 1718 during her Widowhood And in default of payment contrary to the true intent and meaning of the said Indenture of Mortgage I give and devise the Messuage or Tenem[en]t and Lands mortgaged in the said Indenture unto my said Wife Catherine her Heirs and Assigns for ever Subject to the Proviso therein ment[i]oned (if she shall continue unmarried) together with all the rest of my Goods Cattle and Chattells but in case my said Wife Catherine shall happen to marry a Second husband I give and bequeath unto my son John Phillips the sum[m]e of Sixty pounds to be paid by my Wife Catherine unto my said Son im[m]ediately after such second marriage And all the rest I give to my said Wife whether she marries or not And of this my last Will and Testament I make and ordain my welbeloved Wife Catherine my full and whole Executrix And I do hereby utterly disallow revoke and annull all and every other former Testaments Wills Legacies bequests and Executors by me in any wise before this time named willed and bequeathed ratifying and confirming this and none other to be my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year first above written. Signed Henry Phillips. Signed sealed published and pronounced by the said Henry Phillips as his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who subscribed our names as Witnesses in his presence. This will was proved at London on the 3rd November 1719 by
Catherine Phillips, widow of the deceased.
