In the Name of God Amen
Fryday the 30 day of April 1714 according to the Computation
of the Church
of England I John Tate of Poole Hall in the County
of Monmouth Gent. being of perfect memory and remembrance
praised be God do make and ordain this my last Will and
Testament in manner and form following First I bequeath
my Soul into the hands of Almighty God my Maker hoping that
through the meritorious death and Passion of Jesus Christ my
only Saviour and Redeemer to receive free pardon and forgiveness
of my sins And as for my body to be buried in Christian Burial
at the discretion of my Executrix hereafter nominated Item
I give
and devise and bequeath to my loving niece Katherine Powelleldest
daughter of William Powell of Poole Hall Esq[uie]r the summ
of one hundred
and fifty pounds to be paid her within twelve
months next after my decease or
otherwise to be laid out for
her use and benefit until she shall attain to the
age of one
and twenty years or be married which shall first happen
Item I give
and devise unto my niece Rachel Powell second
daughter of the said William
Powell Esq[uie]r the sum of one hundred
pounds to be paid her likewise within
twelve months next
after my decease or otherwise to be laid out for her use
and
benefit as aforesaid Item I give and bequeath to my Nephew John Powell
second son of the aforesaid William Powell the sum[m]
of one hundred pounds to
be within twelve months next after
my decease placed out to his benefit and
advantage Item I
give to my niece Elizabeth Powell the third daughter
of the said
William Powell the sum[m]e of Fifty pounds to be to her use and
benefit
within twelve months after my decease placed out
until she shall attain to her
full age of one and twenty years
as aforesaid Item I give unto my Nephew
Zouch Powell the
third son of the said William Powell the sum[m]e of one hundred
pounds to be within twelve months after my decease placed
out to his benefit
and advantage Provided that if either the
said Katherine Powell Rachel Powell
John Powell Elizabeth
Powell or Zouch Powell shall happen to die before they
or
either of them (that shall happen so to depart this Life)
shall attain to the
Age of one and twenty years or be married
as aforesaid My Will is that such Legacys
devised as aforesaid
(to such of the said Legatees as shall happen to die before
they shall attain to their full Age or be married as aforesaid)
shall be equally
divided between the Survivor or Survivors of
them share and share alike Item
I give and bequeath to my
Nephew James Powell eldest son of Will Powell
aforesaid all
my Books and wearing Apparel Item I give devise and bequeath
all
and singular other my personal Estate goods cattle and chattels
whatsoever by
this my Will unbequeathed unto my dear and
loving sister Katherine Powell wife
to the aforesaid Will Powell
of Poole Hall Esq[uie]r whom I do nominate to to
be sole Executrix
of this my last Will and Testament Revoking all other Wills and
Testaments by me made In Witness whereof I the said John
Tate have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year

This will was proved on the 25th November 1718 by Catherine
Powell,
sister of
the deceased.
