In the Name of God Amen
The Thirteenth Day of July in the year of our Lord God One thousand six hundred ninety and eight and in the Tenth year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord William the Third by the grace of God of England Scotland France and Ireland King Defender of the faith etc. I Rachell Powell of Poole Hall in the parish of LLanvethrine within the County of Monmouth Widow being weak in body but of good and perfect memory thanks be given unto God therefore calling unto mind the mortality of my body And knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament utterly revoking and disanulling all other Wills and Testaments heretofore by me made or consented to be made declaring this to be my last Will and Testament in writing in manner and forme following (vizt) First and principally I recommend my Soul into the hands of God that gave it And my body to the earth ffrom whence it was formed to be buryed in Christianlike and decent manner according to the discretion of my Executrix herein ment[i]oned nothing doubting but at the generall resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God And as touching such temporall Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life I give devise and dispose of the same as followeth Imprimis I do give gr[an]t assigne assure and confirme and by these presents have given gr[an]ted assured and confirmed unto my Daughter Rachel Powell all and singular the Leases yearly Rents Annuities Issues and profits to the said Leases belonging and becoming yearly due and payable unto me and my Assignes until the expiration of the term of years therein ment[i]oned from certain Mills and demaines with their appurtenances and the Hereditaments of the premisses and every of their right members situate within the severall parish of Grismond and Skenffrith within the aforesaid County of Monmouth To have and to hold unto the said Rachell my Daughter and her Assignes under the Proviso and condit[i]on herein ment[i]oned (that is to say) provided allwayes and its the true intent and meaning of this my will that it shall and may be lawfull to and for my Daughter Elizabeth Sheares and her daughter Charity Audley to have receive and take and recover of and from my Daughter Rachell to themselves severally share and share alike equally amongst them in generall of all the Rents Issues and profits of the aforesaid premisses until such time as sale shall be made of the said premisses and after such sale shall be made my will is that all such moneys as shall be had for and upon the sale of the aforesaid premisses shall be even and equally divided amongst my Daughter Rachell and ^my^ Daughter Elizabeth and her Daughter Charity Audley (by even and equall portions) And as for touching and concerning the one hundred pounds being due unto me from my Son William Powell which I have Judgment for I do devise and dispose of them as followeth First I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Elizabeth the sum[m]e of thirty pounds part thereof Item I give and bequeath unto my Gran=Daughter Elizabeth Nicholas the sum[m]e of ten pounds part thereof Item I give and bequeath unto my Grandaughter Charity Audley twenty pounds part thereof Item I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Rachell Forty pounds residue thereof Item I do give and bequeath unto my Daughter Elizabeth the Bed which is in the Chamber over the Parlour and all the Furniture belonging thereto Item I do give and bequeath unto my Grandaughter Mary Stevens Five pounds unto my Daughter Francis Five pounds And as for the Goods and household stuffe which I have lying at Poole Hall I give and bequeath them to my son W[illia]m Powell for and towards and upon condit[i]on that he shall settle my Grandaughter Charity Audley an Apprentice Item I do give and bequeath unto my Grandaughter Elizabeth Nicholas one of my best brass panns And as for touching and concerning all the rest and residue of my goods Cattle and Chattels personall Estate Utensils household stuffe and Implements whatsoever to me belonging or in anyway appertaining and not herein or hereby before ment[i]oned or specified I give and bequeath the same unto my well beloved daughter Rachell Powell whom I do nominate and appoint sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament (only my will is that if in case it shall happen that my Daughter Elizabeth shall or will continue to reside and inhabit for some time with my Daughter that then and in such case it shall and may be lawfull to and for the said Elizabeth to have receive and take an indifferent part or reasonable share of all such hard Corne and other sorts of grain as is now growing upon the Lands and premisses which are in my own occupat[i]on and mannuemen towards her maintenance during the time of such her continuance as afores[ai]d And also I do hereby nominate constitute appoint and ordain my well beloved brother Walter Cecill and my loving Friend John W[illia]m of Lanthewy Skyrryt Esq[uie]r to be Trustees and Supervisors over this my Will and Testament and to see that the Content hereof may be Fullfilled perfected performed and finally compleated according to the true intent and meaning hereof In witness whereof I have hereunto put my hand and Seal the Day and year first above written . Rachell Powell . Signed Sealed published and declared this my last Will and Testament contained in two sheets of paper in the presence of the mark of Francis Hoskins James Powell.

This will was proved at London on the 14th January 1703 by
Rachel Powell, daughter of the deceased.
