In the name of God amen I Thomas William Langattock Llyngood in the County of Monmouth Gent being sick of body but of good and p[er]fect memory praise be unto God doe this present thirtyeth Day of September Ann[o] Dom[ini] One thousand six hundred and fifty make and ordaine my last will and testam[en]t in writeing in manner and forme Following First I com[m]end my soule to Almighty God my Creator and Redeemer and my body to Christian burial Item according to a power reserved in me by two sow all deeds heretofore by me made I give and bequeath all messuages lands tenements and hereditaments with the appurtenances in the p[ar]ish of Lancillo in the County of Hereford now in the occupat[i]on of Giles Griffith unto my daughter Johan To have and to hold unto my said daughter Johan her executors administrators and assignes from and immediately after my decease for and during and untill the end of tenn years from thence next immediately following for and towards the raising of her person provided nevertheless that if my son[n]e James shall pay unto the said Johan my daughter or her assignes the sum[m]e of two hundred pounds of lawfull money of England my will is that the aforesaid bequeast to my said daughter shalbe voyd and thath from and after payment thereof and from and after the expirat[i]on of the said tearme of tenn yeares which shall first be I doe devise and bequeath the foresaid messuages lands tenements and hereditaments unto my said sonne James his heirs and assignes for ever Item I doe give devise and bequeath unto Katherine my wiffe all and singular my messuages lands tenements and hereditaments with the appurtenances in the p[ar]ish of Langattock Llyngood or elsewhere in the said County of Monmouth for and during the tearme of her naturall life if she remaine sole and unmarry[e]d to and towards the maintenance of her selfe and my said children And if it shall happen that my wiffe marry then my will and meaning is that the p[re]misses lastly ment[i]oned shalbe and remaine to my said sonne James for the maintenance of him and my said daughter untill my said daughter shalll come to the age of fifteene yeares and after that my said daughter shall accomplish the said of [sic] fifteene yeares or her death I devise and bequeath the same unto my said sone James his heires and assignes for ever Item I give and bequeath unto my said wiffe four of my best kine and four of my best Oxen twenty of my best sheepe and the blacke mare and all the corne and graine in the houses or barnes and alsoe the use and occupat[i]on of all the houshold stuffe and implements of husbandry for soo many yeares as she happen to live or untill the day of her Marriage which shall first happen and after her decease or day of her Marryage againe which shall first happen then my will and meaning is that the foresaid houshould stuffe and implements of husbandry shall remain as followeth that is to say I give and devise my greatest chest and two of my greatest coffers & a little box to my daughter Johan Item I give and devise all the bedsteads table boards couches stooles and all wooden ware in or about my house and all my implements of husbandry unto my said sone and all the rest and residue of my goods and Cattle moveable I devise and bequeath unto my said sone and daughter equally to be divided between them after the death or Marryage of my said wiffe as aforesaid Item I give and devise twenty ewes which I have already marked and picked out to my maid servan Jayne and to my man servant William Jones that is to say tenn to every one of them Item I give & bequeath unto my brother Walter two two yeare old black heifers Item I devise to my brothers daughter Mary tenn of my lambes to be chosen out by my executor I doe will and declare that my said executor shall with all convenient speede after my decease pay all my debts owing by bond or p[ro]mise First and afterwards to discharge and pay the debts due upon the mortgage to Mr John Gomond that the bonds may be Freed from the same ; and I doe alsoe will and desire my executor to pay all such legacies as I shall by any note or schedule annexed hereunto by mitt or appoint I doe hereby revoke all former wills; and of this my last will & testament I doe make and ordaine my said sone James to be my sole executor and I doe desire and appoint my cousin Walter James of Trizrer in the said county esq[uie]r and William David John of St. Maughans to be over seers of this my last will and that they or one of them or such as they shall ap[p]oint shall have the adm[inistrati]on of my goods during my sones minority for my sones use and benefitt signed sealed and published the Day and yeare first above written Thomas WilliamWitnesses to the signing sealing and publishing hereof Walter James John James John Arnold the mark of ^William^ David John.

This will was proved on the 7th June 1651 by William David John,
supervisor of the deceased's will.
