It is not possible to summarize Cousin Irene’s massive pre-internet research from about 50 years ago. Microfilmed, in part, by the FHL, it is reported that twenty-one boxes were bequeathed to The Oklahoma Historical Society. Those letters, while secondary references, are so rich with connections one can only marvel at what she could have done with internet resources.
The content of her letters contain requests to family members, in the early to mid 1960’s, to fill-out pedigree sheets and to write down what-else they could remember. Several cousins were actively involved in this quest with Irene. These pedigree sheets were as intended: ‘What people remembered,’ rather than what they ‘researched.’ The John mentioned so often as John W. is likely a result of those pedigree sheets, which were compiled as "The Britain Family" (n.d.) and to which should be added, "Pedigrees and Memories."
