BR*N Possible Migration from NC to TN

from

BR*N Spelling of surname (Sos) Interchangeable

BR*N Possible Migration from North Carolina (NC) to North East Tennessee (TN),
including Washington County (Co.), Greene Co., The Great Hiwassee District, Calhoun, Athens, Mayfield Road (Rd), Hiwassee Rd, Cherokee, and The Trail of Tears, towards posing and eventually answering the question of surname BR*N travel with the Removed People (not just Cherokee).

In addition to BR*N Sos Record Locations, on previous page,
in support of the statement, Surnames BR-N, BR*N, are interchangeable.

From Boone, NC to Upper East TN
The Northern-most route from NC to TN

>501 turn
n.  The Route number to the right of Boone is 421, then moving left is Route 321, then to the number 67, and the elevation is greater than 3,000 ft, which is important considering travel in the late 1700’s.  Part of this area is now The Cherokee National Forest in The Great Smokey Mts (hence, the "smoke").

From about the Route number 159 to 67 is The Watauga Lake (which one can almost see as blue just north and in ‘the bowl’ of that route, so a better view is below).

This is a breath-takingly beautiful scenic route, yet must have been just the worse trip imaginable for migrating with one’s family and things.  Remember, too, that getting off the narrow road was very difficult at sparse locations and not all of the fellow travelers were friendly.

Starting at about the number 321, just to the right of Hampton, begins the Upper East TN Valley within the two darker lines going SW on the photo.  Back then the whole of this area was Washington County, NC.  Today it is Rural TN.  [B.GaiL]

n.  The photo view now pans South to Asheville (NC Buncombe County).
n.  From Asheville notice that this, one of the major routes Westward, was really North along that (present day) Interstate 40.  The reason is simply the mountain range elevations, which are so beautifully visible here, on the left.
n.  This Route 40 continues onto Knoxville (TN Knox Co).
n.  The Route 321, upper-left, connects with the first map at the top of this file, extending the length of the Upper East TN Valley.
n.  At the middle-top is Hot Springs, another migration route from Mars Hill (NC Madison County) along Route 19. [B.GaiL]

n.  That is 321 on the left (bottom clipped off a little) and 81 at the top (left, clipped off a little, too).
n.  The Route 411 on the left is the Maryville Rd (shown on map, below) and that 411 connects with 321 in Newport (321 from at the top (right), down left, then up around that curve at the lower left corner).
n.  I’d say that if our ancestors did not possess a good map, then around in circles they’d go.
n.  Where that Route 40 goes North from Asheville (NC Buncombe Co) and meets Interstate 81 is just to the East of Dandridge, East of Knoxville (TN Knox Co.). [B.GaiL]

n.  Just southwest of Asheville (NC Buncombe Co) is the heart of Cherokee (NC Cherokee Co) where The Eastern Band of the Cherokee removed to, rather than travel West on The Trail of Tears.  (Google’s green arrow on the map above).  There were over 4,000 deaths on that journey, as well as a million-or-more lost...those who populated the whole of NC and TN, according to the informative talk given by Chief Chad Smith, at The Natural Tunnel State Park, in SW VA (in 2002). (Which is just Northwest of all these maps.)
n.  More is to be known about the tireless efforts to educate us about some of our Native Ancestors through three websites (of many available) [B.GaiL]:

n.  Our map and photo journey, in this file, started with the possible routes of surname BR*N migration from present day NC into present day TN (with a map to show the continued journey to MO).
n.  We stopped for a page and paid respects to Native Peoples who populated the whole of our USA and specifically those many who were displaced (and lost) by ancestor removals westward.
n.  Then we map-summarized our journey and added a larger view to show Springfield (MO Greene Co.) where this set of ancestor descendants settled.
n.  Our pictorial map and photo journey, in this html file, culminates at The Old Britton Church Road, in Riceville (TN McMinn Co.)
n.  In McMinn County, more BR*N migration locations regarding TN and Methodist are prepared for research. [B.GaiL]
