Charles Rubel Hill, 26 of Oriole street, died at a local hospital Sunday afternoon at 12:40 o'clock from injuries received early Sunday morning when the car in which he was riding turned over on Waughtown street, at Lomond. Dr. R. C. Fowler well-known local dentist, who was riding in the roadster also, was seriously injured and is in Memorial Hospital. William Hill, brother of the deceased, who was driving the car, was only slightly injured and has been released by police on bond of $5000 on a charge of manslaughter.
The accident occured about 2 o'clock Sunday morning. Investigation has revealed but little information concerning the details. It is understood, however, that the car was being driven toward the city on Waughtown street. It is said to have struck the curb on the driver's left side of the street, the careened back to the right side and turned over.
C. R. Hill and Dr. Fowler were carried to Memorial Hospital, where Mr. Hill succumbed Sunday afternoon. Dr. Fowler is suffering from a head injury and remained unconscious until early Monday morning when he began to shows signs of recovery. His condition is considered much improved, according to reports.
Mr. Hill was born in Davidson county February 23, 1908, son of William and Emma Spaugh Hill. He had resided in this city since he was 5 years old and was employed by the Unique Furniture Company.
Funeral services will be conducted from the home Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock and from the Sprague Street Church of Christ at 2:30 o'clock. Rev. Mr. Franklin and Rev. G. W. C. Stoney will conduct the services and interment will be in Union Ridge Cemetery.
Hill Rites to Be Conducted Today Funeral Services for Charles Rubel Hill, 26 of this city, who was fatally injured in an automobile accident here early Sunday morning, will be conducted today at 2 p.m. form the home and at 3 p.m. from Sprague Street Church of Christ, Rev. Mrs. Flora Hill Hege, 96, widow of Ira L. Hege of Winston - Salem died Friday, Feb 22, 2002, at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born May 27, 1905, in Thomasville to William and Emma Spaugh. Most of her life was spent in Winston - Salem . She attended local schools. She was retired from R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company with 38 years service. She was the oldest member of Pinedale Christian Church. Surviving are a son Richard Hege and wife, Betty of Winston - Salem, two granchildren, Charles Steven Hege and wife, Brenda, and Karen Cole and husband Randy; four great-grandchildren, Brian Hege and wife Kristie, Wesley Hege , Austin Cole, and Tyler Cole. Funeral Services will be held Monday, Feb. 25, 2002 at 2 p.m. at Pinedale Christian Church by Bill McKenzie and Bob McCaskill. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. Mr. Richard Franklin Hege, 83, of Winston-Salem died Saturday, May 6, 2006. He was born April 8, 1923, in Winston-Salem to the late Ira L. and Flora Hill Hege. Mr. Hege graduated from Gray High School and was a member and past president of SunWaugh Civic Club. He was also a lifelong member of Pinedale Christian Church and a member of the Masonic Lodge for more than 50 years. He retired from Frank Vogler & Son's Funeral Home after working there for 60 years. Mr. Hege was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend who especially enjoyed attending his grandson's ballgames and sporting events. He is survived by his loving wife, Betty Smith Hege, of the home; a daughter, Karen Cole, and husband Randy of Apex; a son, Steve Hege, and wife Brenda of Winston-Salem; four grandsons, Brian Hege and wife Kristie of Clemmons, Wesley Hege and wife Nikki of Hampstead and Austin Cole and Tyler Cole, both of Apex; and two great-granddaughters, Emily Hege and Abigail Hege. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 10, at Vogler's Main Street Chapel, with Mr. Bill McKenzie and Mr. Bob McCaskill officiating. Mrs. Betty Jean Smith Hege, 79, died Monday evening, May 29, 2006, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. Betty was the loving wife of the late Richard Franklin Hege for 61 years. She was also a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister who always called and sent cards to family members, friends and church members on special occasions and who especially enjoyed attending her grandson's ballgames and sporting events. Mrs. Hege was born in Winston-Salem on Jan. 21, 1927, to the late George B. and Pearl Marshall Smith. She graduated from Gray High School in 1944 and helped organize her class reunions for many years. While at Gray High School, she was a star athlete, participating in basketball, softball, swimming and soccer. She was a member of Pinedale Christian Church, where she worked as church secretary for many years. She was also an active member of the Young at Heart group at the church. Surviving are a daughter, Karen Cole and her husband, Randy, of Apex, a son, Steve Hege and his wife, Brenda, of Winston-Salem; four grandsons, Brian Hege and his wife, Kristie, of Clemmons, Wesley Hege and his wife, Nikki, of Hampstead and Austin Cole and Tyler Cole, both of Apex; two great-granddaughters, Emily Hege and Abigail Hege; two sisters, Phyllis Jones and Dorothy Holland, both of Winston-Salem; and a brother, Donald Smith of Pilot Mountain. Mr. William Arnold Hill, 71 740 Waughtown St., died Wednesday at the home of his daughter. He was born in Forsyth County to James William and Emma Spaugh Hill. He was retired from R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. Surviving are his wife, Esther Gregory Hill, of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Ruby Maxey, 4031 Glen Hi Rd.; one son, Billy Hill, Greensboro; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Flora Hege, 1041 Brookline St. The body is at Hayworth - Miller Silas Creek Chapel pending completion of arrangements. He was an electrician.

Mrs. Ruby Hill Maxey, 64, of Clemmons died Sunday, March 19, 2000, at the Human Service Alliance. She was born Jan. 21, 1936, in Forsyth County to William Arnold Hill and Esther Gregory Hill. Mrs.
Maxey was a member of Jonestown Baptist Church. Surviving are two daughters, Carol Hartline and husband, Darrell, of Winston-Salem and Angie Renigar and husband, Eric, of Walnut Cove; a son, Sonnie Griffin and wife, Pat, of Winston-Salem; and five grandchildren. She will always be our special Nana, God bless her. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Charles Whitaker and the Rev. Tim Groce officiating.
