The above plaque was the reality of the land granted under the Kinkaid Act;
however, Joshua and Highly stayed - as did some of their descendants, stayed in Loup County for almost 100 years.


Others moved on, such as Highly's siblings.  
Sarah (Perkins) Smouse Piggott, and her three children, homesteaded in Morrow County, Oregon. 
John Amos "Amos" PERKINS and William H. "Bill" PERKINS moved to Washington State where they 
lived in King, Skagit, Lewis, and Pierce Counties.
