Elijah Madison Burton was born June 22, 1849 in DeKalb County Tennessee. When he was about one year old, the family moved to Jefferson County Illinois. In March 1868 he married Cynthia Jane Meador, daughter of Bluford and Perlina Meador, She was born January 14, 1849 in Jefferson County Illinois. They lived in Jefferson County until sometime before 1880. I believe they then went to Washington County Illinois, where they lived until they came to Texas about 1886.
