George March Hinkle' Elder of the Mormon Church Hero or Traitor? George was born November 13, 1801 in Jefferson County, Kentucky,to Michael Hinkle Jr. & Nancy Haggins, George's siblings where William {My GGGG Grandfather} and Rebecca. George died November 9, 1861 at the age of 59 years, 11 month and 26 days old. He was laid to rest in Hamilton Cemetery, Decatur County,Iowa.

George married 1st wife Sarah Ann Starks on February 6 1823 in Wayne County, Indiana, Sarah died December 1, 1823 in Wayne County, Indiana at the age of 40 years old, and is buried in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Grandview, Louisa County, Iowa.

George marrying second time married a Mrs. Mary Loman-Hartman, a member of the Mormon Church, also had three children, George W., Elizabeth and William Hartman.George was converted to the Mormon faith in 1832 in Indiana, he then was baptized and moved to Jackson County, Missouri.George was a Colonel in the Far West War.

Children of George March Hinkle & Sarah Ann "Stark" Hinkle are as listed: Morgan Bingly born, November 11, 1848 in Marion County, Missouri, Andrew Jackson born ca. 1829, Indiana, George Alma born ca. 1834 in Missouri, Lucinda Jane born January 6 1836 and died March 29, 1904 probably in Mahaska County, Iowa, John Thomas Jefferson James Henderson born ca. 1844 in Iowa, he died during the Civil War. Children of George March & Mary Loman Hartman Hinkle are listed: Rebecaa C. born ca. 1846 in Ohio, Michael Loman born November 24 1848, near Duncan's Prairie, Mercer County, Illinois, died May 19, 1940, Samuel James born April 11, 1850, near Duncans Prairie, Mercer County, Illinois, Charles Mullen born March 27, 1852 and died March 23 1913, Red Fork, Tulsa County, Oklahoma aged of 60 years, 11 months old.

The Children by Mary Loman Hartman Hinkle that George helped raise are as listed: George W. Hartman born July 20, 1826 and died July 22, 1865, aged 39 years, 2 days and is buried in Old Davis City Cemetery, Burwell Township, Decatur County,Iowa, Elizabeth Hartman born ca. 1834 in Pennsylvania, she was unmarried in 1870, William Hartman born March 7, 1840 in Green Castle, Franklin County, Pennsylvania and died October 2 1899, his wife Eliza was born February 5, 1845 and died November 3, 1912, both are buried in Old Davis City Cemetery, Burwell Township, Decatur, Iowa.
