Dear Niece and Family,

Just a few lines to let you all know that we are all well and hoping you all are the same. I have a little surprise to tell you. I have another baby girl, just six weeks old today. I name her Hermine Catherine Rommel. the other little girl don't like her she says for me to put her in the ditch for then she will be baby again. The other children are all O.K. I have to raise her on Eagle Milk. I have not got any for her. Alice (my grandmother) why don't you try and come down for a few weeks and see us all once. you only got 2 children (my aunt and my dad) and we got so many. What kind of work does your husband do? When did you here from Annie last. I got one letter from her since her baby was born and that all. And I never hear from Julia. she to lazy to write to me I guess. but I sure am glad to here she moved into her

new home and hope they will have good luck with it there is no place like a little home of your own so when you drive a nail in it why you know it your own and sure make you feel good to say it my own. How is the weather up there? It sure is hot down here now. We had lots of rain this summer down here. How did you all enjoy the 4th of July? we went out fishing but it rain so hard that we did not cathch any thing we went out to Seabrook about 35 miles from Houston, and caught nine little old fish and not 1 crab. There was some people down their that gave the children about 2 doz. The children went out bathing and had a good time. Well we just went out more for sport than anything else so you see how it is. I just got done washing two big lines clothes, and it won't be long before the laundry man will be here with the real washing I have them done by the wet wash laundry. they wash them for 6 cents a pound and bring them back wet but I don't my hanging them up.

Have you got any pretty flowers? I just got a few it so hot and dry. And to carry water it is too hard. Well I guess I have to go because my honey has come home from work now and he wants to eat supper for I know he is hungry. He has got to go and milk the cow. He has got out side work now and you know the sun sure is hot to be out in it all day. Well I will close for this time hoping to here real soon from you all. so be a good girl untill I see you all some day.
