Springhill Cemetery

Spring Hill is an African American cemetery located east of Earle on Spring Hill Road.  It can be accessed by turning north onto Springhill Road from US Highway 64, east of Earle. 

A sign has been erected that states the cemetery was established in 1869. It doesn’t appear that the cemetery has been maintained in quite sometime.

The pictures were taken August 2004 and at that time, the cemetery was completely inaccessible as evidenced by the dense weeds and grasses that appear in the photos.

Donnel, Willie Mae, born Sep 27, 1943, Earle, died Jun 10, 1947, Collins Chapel Hospital, Memphis, Tennessee.

 Daughter of John Henry Donnel and Dora Davis. Died of ruptured appendix. Buried Spring Hill Cemetery, Earle, Jun 12, 1947, by Arthur Sims Funeral Home. Information from Shelby County, TN death certificate.
