I believe that the Aris Lunsford listed in this household, 1840, is a male between the age of 60-70. By 1850, Dyer County, 66 year old Sarah Lun(d)sford is living in the household with John Crow, age 34, born TN, along with wife Elizabeth, age 28, born NC, and sons: Green Crow, 8, J. A. Crow, 6, John Crow Jr, 4, and daughter S. A. Crow, 1. All children were born in TN. I speculate that Elizabeth, the wife of John Crow, was a Lunsford, and the daughter of Aris and Sarah Lunsford.

Lunsford and America Nixon of 1839, I believe the Aris Lunsford in Hardeman County, 1840, was Aris D. Lunsford. Ephraim Lunsford was very likely his brother. Who was the male in this household between the age of 60-69?

Lauderdale County History (Goodspeed Publishing Co., 1887)
In 1850 A. D. Lunsford and Hiram Partee donated a lot to the Ripley Female Academy, and in 1853 a two-story frame building was erected by a stock company. This building stood about one-eighth a mile north from the court house, and was destroyed by fire in 1872 and never rebuilt.

Along with the marriage record for A.D. Lunsford and America May Nixon, located in Hardeman County, May 1839 - a record was located for Thomas Lunsford to Mary C. Nixon, dated October 1847. With the marriage record for William Lunsford and Maria Rine (Ryan), also found in Hardeman County, it is believed that A. D. Lunsford and William Lunsford were most likely brothers. The identity of Thomas has not been determined and is not known if this was the son of William. Mary Lunsford and Elliott H. Nixon were also married in Hardeman County, 1837.

Bondsman for Aris D. Lunsford and America May Nixon was John Hatley. Solemnizer was B. Cash, Justice of the Peace for Hardeman County.

On August 10, 1881 - in Lauderdale County, Tennessee, William C. Lunsford transferred 59 3/4 acres to S. E. Templeton for the sum of $50. This land known as the "Lunsford Homestead Tract" located in District No. 10.

On December 6, 1881, Lester Hardy Lunsford signed a Deed in Lauderdale County, Tennessee to transfer 59 3/4 acres to Hiram D. Glass for the sum of $150. "The said tract of land known as the homestead and residence of my mother Mrs. A. E. Lunsford the widow of A. D. Lunsford."
