Deed of
Conveyance
From Brittain Tully
For 64 A. on Reelfoot
Registered 31st day of March 1840
This
Indenture made this Twenty Ninth day of October in the year
Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty nine between Britton Tully of
Witnesseth that the said Britton
Tully for and in consideration of the sum of two hundred dollars and ___ cents
to him in hand payed by the said James M. Cole the
receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath given granted bargained sold alievated conveyed and confirmed unto the said James M.
Cole and his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land
situated lying and being in the County of Obion and State aforesaid in the 6th
Range & 10th Section of the 13th Surveyors district
on the waters of Reelfoot River adjoining the line
dividing the States of Kentucky & Tennessee & butted and bounded as
follows (to wit)
Beginning at an Elm in the
Kentucky line marked as a Comer Zackrius or Culbersons North East Corner with white Oak and Horn Beam
pointers running thence East with said Kentucky line fifty seven and a half
poles to a white Oak & Poplar with Sweet Gum & Poplar pointers Marval Coles corner thence South with its line one hundred
and sixty two poles to a Sycamore & hornbeam with hornbeam & Sliprey Elm pointers on Snapmet?
Branch thence down said Branch with it meanders to its mouth & down Reelfoot River with its meanders to a white Oak with Poplar
& White Oak pointers in Zackrius line thence
North one hundred and ninety two poles to the beginning, containing by
estimation sixty four acres be the same more or less.
To have and to hold the
aforesaid land with all and singular the rites profits emoluments hereditriments and appertinances
of in and to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining to the only proper
use and behoof of him the said James M. Cole and his
heirs and assigns forever and the said Britton Tully for himself and his heirs
executors and administrators doth covenant and agree with the said James M.
Cole and his heirs or assigns that the before recited land and bargains
promises he and they will warrant and forever defend against the right title
Interest or Claim of all and every person whatsoever.

Britton Tully has hereunto set hand and affixed his seal the day and year above
written.

State of
Personally appeared before
me William S. S. Harris Clerk of the County Court of said County the within
named Britton Tully the Bargainor with whom I am
personally acquainted and who acknowledged that he executed the within deed of
Conveyance on the day it bears date for the purposes therein contained.
