Item No. 30  Issued July 5, 1861

Ordered that the County Trustee pay William Lunsford eighteen dollars seventy five cents for keeping pauper child Reynolds 3 months.  Presenting and voting ayes; Barfield, Carson, Glimp, Keller, Labe, Meadows, McLeod, Neighbours, Carter, Roberson, Smith, Campbell, S A & J. Thompson and a majority of all justices of this county.

George W. Lunsford vs James W. Byrum. 

Petition to be released as surety in guardian bond

 

This day came on this cause to be heard on the petition of the plaintiff asking to be relieved as the security of the defendant on a bond executed by defendant in the County Court of Lauderdale County on the _____ day of __________ as guardian of John and Nancy Silvertooth and thereupon came the defendant in open court and gave a new bond with R. J. Davidson and R. A. Williams for his securities in the sum of One Thousand Dollars.

 

It is therefore ordered adjudged and decreed by the court that the plaintiff be released from all further liabilities as security of defendant as guardian aforesaid and it is further ordered that the defendant pay the costs of this _____ for which execution may issue.

 

(Note: In 1870, John Silvertooth, age 9, and Nancy Silvertooth, age 13, were living in the household of James and Sarah Byron, listed as farm laborers. They were in District 10 near Aris Exlum Lunsford.  What was the relationship?)

Ordered that the County Trustee pay to William Lunsford the sum of one hundred and forty five ($145) dollars for building bridge across slough in Cane Creek bottom on the Ripley to Dyersburg road & c. 

 

Present and voting for same; S. A. Thompson, Lightfoot, Anthony Hearning, Barfield, Kirkland, Meadows, J. G. Thompson, J. H. Thompson Jr., J. H. Thompson Sr., Lunsford, Glimp, Hall and Young as majority of all the Justices of the Peace from Lauderdale County, Tennessee.
