Funeral services for Wilburn J. Cole, 73, of Harrisburg, who died Wednesday, July 11, will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Jackson's Harrisburg Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Captain Lovell officiating. Burial will follow at Harrisburg Memorial Park Cemetery.

 

Active pallbearers will be Jerry Paul Reddmann, Aaron Luter, John Stuckey, Mike Armstrong, Russ Hannah and Todd Garner.

 

Officers and board members of the Bank of Trumann and directors of the Arkansas State University Technical Center will serve as honorary pallbearers.

 

Visitation will be today from 5-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

 

Cole was chairman of the board of the Bank of Trumann and had spent his entire life in banking, having also worked at the Bank of Harrisburg and Citizens Bank of Jonesboro. He was a graduate of the Graduate School of Banking of the South at Louisiana State University.

 

He was a member of the Board of Directors of Arkansas State University Technical Center, previously Delta Technical Institute in Marked Tree, and was on the St. Bernard's Advisory Board. He was a member of the Trumann Lions Club and the Trumann Fine Arts Council. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Waldenburg.

 

Survivors include his wife, Mildred (Stitt) Cole of the home; and two sisters, Ruby Branson of Jonesboro and Pat Hazelwood of West Memphis. He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.

          Mr. Wilburn J. Cole of Harrisburg, Arkansas, departed this life on Wednesday, July 11, 2001, at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center, at Jonesboro, at the age of Seventy-Three.

         

He was born August 18, 1927, at Tyronza, Arkansas, the son of the late Archie and Annie (Fallon) Cole.

 

          Mr. Cole was a graduate of the Graduate School of Banking of the South at Louisiana State University and had spent his entire life in banking  He was Chairman of the Board at the Bank of Trumann. 

 

Prior to joining the Bank of Trumann, he was employed by the Bank of Harrisburg and the Citizen's Bank of Jonesboro. 

 

He was a member of the Trumann Lion's Club and the Trumann Fine Arts Council.  He was on the Arkansas State University Technical Center Advisory Board and a member of the St. Bernard's Advisory Board.

 

 He was an artist and enjoyed all kinds of painting.  He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Waldenburg.
