LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT

 OF

 LUTHER LUNSFORD

 

 

 

 

Introduction:

 

Luther Lunsford was the son of Benjamin Stephen Lunsford (Jr.) and Artemesia M. Ledbetter.  He was the grandson of Benjamin Stephen Lunsford (Sr.) and Helen Crow Lunsford of Lauderdale County, Tennessee.  Luther Lunsford was born June 25, 1888 in Craighead County, Arkansas, and married Josie Evelyn Copeland, 1907, in Craighead County, Arkansas.  He died October 16, 1923, and was buried at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Jonesboro, Craighead County, Arkansas.

 

 

 

 

 

I, Luther Lunsford, of Jonesboro, Craighead County, Arkansas, being of sound and disposing mind and memory and being above the age of twenty one years, do make and publish this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all will(s) by me at any time herefore made.

 

First I direct that all my just debts be paid, and after payment of same I make the following bequeaths:

 

Second I give to each of my children, George, Mamie, Irene, Steve, Imo, Inez, Pauline and Luther J. Lunsford the sum of one Dollar.

 

Third I give, devise, & bequeath to my beloved wife, Josie Lunsford, all of the remainder & residence of my estate, both real and personal.

 

Fourth I constitute and appoint my beloved wife, Josie Lunsford, as sole Executrix of my will and request that she be permitted to serve without bond or accounting.

 

In witnesses hereof I have hereunto set my signature in the presence of O. B. Lunsford, Eugene Sloan, who I requested to sign as attesting witnesses on this 6th day of October, 1923.

PROOF OF WILL

 

STATE OF ARKANSAS

County of Craighead

 

 

Personally appeared before me, O. R. Rankin, Clerk of the County and Probate Court of Craighead County aforesaid, R. C. Hunter and Eugene Sloan, to me well known who being duly sworn, that they are the subscribing witnesses to the foregoing Instrument of writing purporting be the last Will and Testament of Luther Lunsford.

 

The testator was at the time of signing said instrument upwards of twenty one y[ea]rs of age and of sound and disposing mind and memory, and that in the presence of both of these affiants he declared it to be his last Will and Testament, and subscribing his name thereto in the presence of both of these affiants that at the request of said Testator affiants who wrote their names to his said Will in his presence and in the presence of each other, that the subscriptions to the foregoing instrument of writing are genuine and that said instrument which is hereto attached is the identical one that affiants so witnessed and saw the said Luther Lunsford sign.
