Last Will and Testament

State of North Carolina                                                    In The Name of God, Amen

Alexander County                                                            The 18th Day of April 1847

 

I Nimrod Lunsford, of the State and County afforesaid;  Being of sound mind and memory, do make this my last will and testament at the same time utterly revoking all other former wills made by me, desiring this to be my last will and testament………

 

(1)         First, I give and bequeath to my beloved wife, Rebecca Lunsford, two mil cows,

the small bay horse, one blue sow, seven shoates, two hogs (?) now in pen, two sheep,

all the poltry, and one bed and furniture, all the furniture such as cupboard drawers

and other furniture belonging to the house, and one 15 gallon kettle, one pot, one

oven and lid, one skillet.  Also, my farm where I now dwell containing (220?) acres

with house and premises, with sufficient bacon and bread stuff and for her support

until grain can be made, to have and to hold during her lifetime in widowhood.

 

(2)         I give and bequeth unto my son, Nimrod Lunsford, the above named farm at the

Decease of his mother to be his right and property.  Also, one cow and calf……….

 

(3)         Also, I have 153 acres of land on the lower little river called (?) the Wiley

Place, which I wish my executor to sell to the highest bidder on one and two years

credit.  Also, one other tract of land called the Copes (?) Place containing 200 acres

adjoining David Bowman and others, to be disposed of as the above named. Also, one

certain parcel of land adjoining Elisha Fox, William Fox and including the farm

Jerrance (?) Price now dwells, to be disposed of in the same as above named.  Also,

One other tract of land being on Barrets Mountain containing (840 or an estimated 40)

Acres (?) to be disposed of as above named.   Also one other parcel of land lying on

The middle little river and adjoining Nanniny (?) Price and others, containing 220 acres

To be disposed of as before named.  Also, one other tract of land called the Austin

Place, 343 acres adjoining Joseph Starnes on the waters of the middle little river

To be disposed of as before named.  Also, one other parcel of land adjoining George

Bowman, Daniel (Fox or Fry) and others containing by estimation 150 acres to be

Disposed of in the same way as before named.  The proceeds of the various land to

The exception of 50 dollars apiece to each and every one of my lawful heirs after

Paying all of my just debts.

 

At this time I do appoint Ruban Watts (sheriff) of the same County and State, executor

Of this last will and testament to which I have here unto set my hand and seal the

day and date above written.

The foregoing last will and testament paper writing was produced in open court by

Rueban Watts, the executor therin named and on the oaths of Joseph E. Ronce and Isaac Stafford this witnesses (?) there (?) to duly prove as the last will and testament

of Nimrod Lunsford and ordered to be recorded.
