he brought his wife to his new home on the Potomac River, at the junction of
Licking Creek.

branch of the Potomac River at the mouth of Licking Creek, between Ernstville
and Parkhead Stations of the Western MD RR in what is now Indian Springs
District (15) of Washington Co., MD. (Washington Co. formed 1776 from
Frederick Co., formed 1748 from Prince George's Co., MD.) The Cox place was
about 9 miles from "Maiden's Choice," where the Shelbys lived, and 3-4 miles
northwest from the great stone Fort Frederick, erected during the French and
Indian Wars.
